If this boat is a center steer maybe both cables are 17', have a bud with an XB 2003 that needs new cables and they are different lengths so give some real life length's.

Your buddy with the 2003 should try to lube his cables before replacing them . I just did one that was so bad you could hardly get the boat on and off the trailer . It steers with one finger now. Whoever purchases these cables should do the same before installation to ensure years of trouble free operation . There used to be a good thread on here about the process but the links no longer work . This link will show you how to make a luber for less than 20 bucks and exactly how to do it
