looking for a decent handling tire for a 15 x 7 rim, for a '68 gto, something speed rated, been searching around and it doesn't seem like they make much any more for a 15 " rim. i remember back in the day buying bridgestone re71's, seems like they've been discontinued in 15" sizes. thanks!

BF Goodrich T/A's are still the best musclecar tire IMO. Just got a set for my old Z-28 from tire rack. 245-60-15 at about 135.00 per tire shipped. 7'' wheel will work with up to 245's Might even squeeze on the 255's if you have the room.

I had my ta's to 175mph at pocono on my cobra. Way over the speed rating but handled well. JMO

BFG is probably your only option for 15", they make a Drag radial in 235/60/15.

If you are looking for a high performance tire take a look at the Avon CR6ZZ http://www.avonmotorsport.com/historic/road-legal/cr6zz

The Cobra Roadster guys seem to really like them.

i was hoping for something a lil better then the radial ta's, a comp ta would be better but apparently they don't make them anymore in 15's, i thought about the drag radials for the back but i put a set on the camaro and it took alot of fun out driving the car:p i'll ck out the avons, thats what i have on my rz

You running stock rims, offset, etc.? JMO I liked reg T/A's better than the Comps, seemed to have belt separating issues way sooner with the Comps. Rubber was a bit stickier but as soon as I rotated them they would start to separate, not to the point of blowing out but just become shakers. If you don't rotate them they seem fine but don't last long that way.

The best and longest lasting tire I had on my 69 GTO were the original Goodyear Eagle GT's 245/60r/14 could get close to 20k out of a set rotated them every 5k. To bad they quit making them.

Michelin still makes XWX but they are rather expensive. Coker sells them in the US.

Dave stock rally 2 rims, they are either 15 x 6 or 15 x 7 , the car probably will see 1500 miles a year, so the tires will probably be changed out before they are worn out!

If you like to mash the go pedal they will not last as long as you think....I get about 15k on my tires before replacement. I drive like a grandma when they are new, and like a demon when I know they are nearing replacement. Smoking them old tires up is what I like.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the speed ratings. When they test the tires they have to run at something like 15 minutes at that speed. A quick blast to 130 on tires rated for 110 isn't going to cause problems. Coopers are good, American made tires. They usually do $100 off a set of 4 for Thanksgiving weekend at www.discounttiredirect.com plus you can stack whatever rebates the tire manufacturer is offering on top plus usually $30 rebate for opening/using Discount Tire's credit card. No interest financing for like 6 months too if you want it.

The Avon's seem to be exactly what you are looking for. It's built for people who enjoy track days or that level of grip from a tire but still need a street legal tire for everyday use.

"The CR6ZZ is a range of road legal radial competition tyres suitable for classic performance cars. They are an all-weather tyre designed to be used for competition driving in disciplines such as classic road rallying, trackdays and circuit racing."

245/60/15 should fit all round, I did run 275/60/15 on the rear at one time on stock rims. Went back to 245/60/14 worked best with gears I had in it.

Yeah, that's the problem with Tire Rack, Discount Tire includes shipping in the price.

Thanks for recommending the Avons. They even make performance 13" radials, which is what I need for my 69 Lotus. Now I have to decide how many years to put on the all season radials it currently rides on. I change tires due to age, not tread wear on that car.
