looking for a little input and hopefully some pictures Im rebuilding the floor and interior on my Daytona I want to do the front seats/center console like a skater with the throttles and shifters cup holders radio and some gauges in the console kinda like a modern car/truck. if anyone has ever done a similar boat or that boat I would love to see what you have done also what kinda seats are best? I have some cheap low back seats now and want a comfortable mid to high back seat. any input/opinions I would love to hear.
Thanks,

What motors do you have and how fast do you want to go?It matters.

How does anything he mentioned above have to do with mph? Sounds like an interior job.
Imo, I'd stick to the side shifter setup for ease of getting into the front seats. You won't realize how nice that is until your climbing into the seats everytime. Lets see some pics of your rig!

Well I'm actually doing both. Interior update and. Going to 260 2.5. Instead of bridgeports. That is a good point about getting into the seats. I might try to keep the council further forward. I'm really just making this a go fast boat. I would like to see 110-115 ill get some pictures on here soon as I hope to have some time over the holidays. .

I completely redid my 1990 24 Daytona with an interior gutout. Everything came out including the floor. After completed, the boat lost close to 500lbs and I added 15 MPH to the top end. Boat would run 117-118 on GPS with 20" Diamond 2.5 260's at 8500-9000 with stock Sportmasters and out of the box merc 28 Lab Cleavers turning in. I ran out of room on my Lake with 30's and never did find out how fast it would go. It felt like 120 was probably it before it went over with the way I had it setup. I much preferred the acceleration of the 28's.
I Removed all foam. Put in a lightweight floor, added bulkheads from deck to hull bottom at dash. Added bulkheads under floor between stringers and really re-inforced the centerpod pad which is a weak point in the rough. I would check it. The reason I redid my boat is because I blew the centerpod out of mine at 100 and made it back. At that time The boat was about 15 years old.
After completed the boat was pretty much bulletproof up to about 3 footers when it ran out of length and bottom. The boat accelerated very well and really aired out. I ran it on the edge. I never had another 24 cat or V-bottom go by me when I had it. For me I found that the interiors of these boat are much more user friendly than the other 24-25ft cats I ran with. However, in my experience they are not an offshore boat like the 24-28 Skaters etc.
This boat did eat alot of motors. However I Wish I had it back. It was a great fit for my use. Brad Zastrow had it after me and did a beautiful job on the interior and exterior. It turned out great. Wonder where it is now? Wish I could find a 28 Daytona outboard.
I have alot pictures of what I did to it. If you wanna know my thoughts give me a call. Hope this helps. Scott 608 347 0027

Was this the one he painted red with white like the Ford GT paint scheme? Cool boat, its lurking around the area still.

If I remember correctly it went to Utah. A year or two ago I got a call from a gentlemam in South Carolina that said he had bought it from the Utah guy. Thats the last I've heard on the boat.
Larry,
I see you have a Rapid Craft with twin 250 HO E-TEC's. How long is that boat, how low does it sit at rest and how fast does that thing go?

Don't know if this helps, I have one of each. Here are a few pictures on the Eliminator, it is a 2013 carbon fiber-kevlar hull with twin 300xs.

The ability to have a second guy running the sticks/trim while I'm turning the wheel, or vice versa, is worth sacrificing the comfort in my opinion. Then I have the option of doing it all myself if I have the wife or someone else who doesn't know how to operate the sticks riding shotgun. Might be something to think about if you're adding a center console and trying to concentrate on the wheel while squeezing out every last mph.

Thanks a bunch with the input and pics guys I will be in contact as soon as I get the floor in it and start building the interior and I will add pictures as I go Im thinking about using coosa board or equivalent to cut weight. Im probably going to do the center console due to the gaffrig shifters I already have and the ability to have two guys run the boat. Im building to have more speed than flair/comfort. I want to run this at The lake of the Ozarks shoot out for fun.

Just a thought, if you are gutting the boat, I would run separate 3 pvc tubes from front to back for wiring (signal and controls), hydraulics, and stereo wiring.

What are some thoughts on the coosa board thinks is worth the money in weight and rot protection? I have no experience with it but I hear a lot of good stuff other than price !

Coosa board is great stuff when used within its limitations. It is as strong as plywood and weighs 30% less. It will not take screws though - you have to glass in some plywood for that for mounting seats and such.
I am in the middle of a total rebuild of my 72 Hydrodyne and removed everything (plywood floor, balsa core) and got rid of about 1000 lbs and replaced it with a Divinycell core and Coosa stringers and floor.
