There were a lot of them for sale on BBC shortly after they fist came out. I don't know why they were all getting rid of them that quick.

Looks very similar to a Hydromotive Quad IV OT to me.

If you check over on BBC, and also on the Merc blogs, some combinations are having a lot of problems with the ProMax prop breaking loose right at break during hole shot. Some have tried a cav ring on the front, welding a flair ring on the back, and drilling PVS holes in combination. Seems like some have great results and others can't get the hole shot right. Most say once on plane acceleration is great as is top speed.

My experience on my setup allows me to plane off at 3500 or so. If i floor it it will blow out but flooring it is not necessary. This is compared to a same pitch pro et that i have to rev to 6000 rpm for 30 seconds to get my boat on plane. No matter what i do my boat hates planing with the et

28' pro et. Planning I can ony compear it to 27' trophy. Et takes 1/5 time of trophy. Planing time 3-5 seconds plus 3-5 mph on top

I can say I like both pro et and promax if your mid and lower are stock you will blow out any prop. if it has a snot on mid or drilled you don't need holes in the prop that's way the bbc guys had that issue. my lower was drilled for hole shots no holes in any of my props hope this helps greg

I was happy with the promax it ran well but only test run was ct run got 6100 out of it hard to say water runs hard on the river. ran my 32 hill same day to 6100 also wish I had more time to compare always next year. we missed you at the run this year

My boat seems to be the opposite. Pro max bogs when I take off. I have to floor it and once it starts planing I can start letting out. The pro et just launches like its supposed to. I also have an offshore mid so not much exhaust going through the prop. One of these days ill block off the snout and try the pro max again. I liked the way it drove just bad launching. Both 28 pitch. I prefer the pro et for now.

Motor height makes a big difference as well.

I have both stock in a 28. Haven't had either long but when I was running the pro max best speed was 82. Ran the Pro ET last week to 87. Might've been the cooler weather though.

Heard from someone that the Pro Max is similar to a TXP OT4 in the same pitch.....but the TXP OT4 is faster while the Pro Max has a little edge in acceleration 30-80.
Hope that helps..

I have all three props - ET, TXP OT4, and the Promax.
My best speed is with the OT4, Midrange is best with the Promax, and the ET is right in the middle of both.

Here's a quick launch of my boat with the Pro ET. I usually launch about full throttle until the boat levels back out then ease off the gas.

Here's one with the Pro Max. Once again full throttle until it levels out. If you watch carefully the motor bogs for a couple of seconds then the rpms run up and take off.

Coupe 427 how do you like the Promax? I've just picked up a lightly used 30 pitch to run on my V21 with a 15" 300xs.
