My motor is running a little cold with 140 degree thermostats. Never gets over 130 dgerees. Is there a hotter heat rande thermostat maybe for the V6 models that would work in the V4? A list of t-stats and temp ranges would be awesome.

Just in case anyone ever needs the info:
Just installed a set of Mercury 143 degree t-stats and am getting 135 degrees at idle where I was getting 118 degrees.
Part number is 75692. Same size. You will need the Merc grommet kit as well. I felt like I was a drunk college kid again trying get a rubber on in the back seat of my VW Rabbit putting those grommets on the t-stats :reddevil:

Wanted to add that my water pressure is also up about 5psi with the Merc stats. Must have smaller passages. They do open on the engine side vs. the Yamaha that open on the cover side.

I am curious if the 2003 and later Yamaha Tstat, 6E5-12411-30 would be a higher temp?

No idea.
This is a pic of one plug with the cold t-stats (top) and one with the hotter Merc t-stats (bottom). No other changes.

Quick update in case someone else tries this. The Merc rubber seals around the thermostats blew off. There is a little more room around the seals in the Yamaha and it gave the rubbers enough room to get pushed off. Last time out I noticed the pressure was down a little and temps were cooler. Pulled the t-stat covers and both rubber seals were in the housings. Lucky they didnt go down and plug something up.
Pull the old rubber seals off your Yamaha t-stats and use them. They are bigger and fit perfect.
