What did you end up doing for reeds on your Promax?? I'm starting my laundry list to RickRacer, and I'm wondering whether to go 5-petal replacements or do the 4-petal block/reed mod..................

Much to my surprise, 7 petal reeds! Ah haa, so the pictures in the manual are wrong. I have six sets of 7 petals in there. Reeds are in excellent shape for 7 years old, only one small chip out of one corner. Reeds barely worn. None frayed. A 'po boy could put these in his motor and run them for a few more years....LOLOLOL......
Decided against doing any mods, going to stay completely stock. Even to the point of ordering the Mercury Boyesens from Mercury. If the originals held up this well for this long, might as well keep it stock.

Are your reeds horizontal or vertical ? What model & hp motor do you have I forgot ? The horizontal intake is the one you need but sense your staying stock it really dosn,t matter, at least you have the seven reed cages. good to hear your making progreese

Except for lower unit oil and plugs, this motor has never had a wrench on it. I'm the first. 100% stock. So it has the horizontal reed blocks. I'm also going to put the BU8H plugs back in it, our ECU doesn't seem to care about non-resistor plugs.
