I want to up my rev limiter on my 2.5 efi 200 pro max. It has a stock fly wheel and I want to know what y'all's thoughts are on the safest max RPM for a stock fly wheel. I'm hitting the rev limiter (6750) now pretty hard with a 28 cleaver. Going to try a 30 cleaver next but I'm sure it will hit it to. I'm wanting something like 7400 Rpm out of the motor. Do ya'll think that's safe with a stock fly wheel? Next who do suggest on the reflash. I hear good things about CDI over in Alabama. There price is right to from what I hear. My buddy has a mercury performance tuner computer but I'm not sure if that can up the RPM on my motor. Thanks guys.

Is the oil injection gone?

Oh yeah it's gone. The vst is deleted so the fuel runs through a 260 regulator. It's deff a well moded 200 other than the 40 amp system.

Hopefully the steel reeds are gone... If they are...
74-7500 would be maxed... That's a heavy flywheel spining around up there on that bearing...

Yeah they are. Maybe I should break down and buy a light weight fly wheel and go 16amp. Then when I send the computer off ill just set it at 7800 and be done with it.

The rubber caged bearings don't like anything over 7600 RPM's. And IMO thats a push for alot of running at those R's. And like Mike mentioned that upper bearing is screaming HELP ME PLEASE with that 40 amp spinning those speeds.

If you want to keep the 40amp charging system you can buy a 40amp light weight high performance flywheel and retain everything else on your motor.

Iv only seen a handful of those and none were for sale. I don't even know where to find one and no idea what they are worth if I did find a used one.

Cdi sells the 40amp stator for the light weight flywheels !

I always ask the same question on these posts.......... WHY? In other words, what're your priorities? Basically there's punch and then there's everything else. Punch is just the seat of the pants feel from extra acceleration or in the case of drag racin' gettin' there quicker. Everything else is engine life, fuel economy and top end numbers. If you raise your limiter to where you're talkin' you're just operating the engine further past it's peak power. If the 30 you're talking about hits the limiter then try a 32. Doing it that way is better from every angle except punch.

I have a question about all this im trying to get my 225 promax rolling good and was wondering about the flywheels when you get a lightweight flywheel do you have to go with the 16amp stator too or what

If you cannot find a 40amp light weight flywheel then the 16 is the only choice that i know of. Keep in mind that there is only one reason to install a light weight flywheel on a stock engine when the rev limit is raised such as the 225pm. The stock cast wheel can and will fly apart. They are not made for high rpm.

And then when you turn them up the stock pistons will lose there skirts in time..

Yesterday I ran a mazco 30 cleaver and was still hitting it at 6750. I got a 40 amp light flywheel I'm putting on it and the box is going to cdi next week and I'm going to up it. Just a heads up he only charges $200 to raise the limiter to what ever u want or delete it. I just want 100 mph out of my boat and motor and I'm soooooo close.

find an early 90's red 40 amp flywheel this 4lbs lighter than the stock black one make sure ther magnets are good and you can go to 7500 but that's it also rod bolts need to be the 3/8 but the 5/q6 will work but you are risking it. metal cage rod bearings a must.
