I have the propshaft centerline level with the bottom of pad??

Any set up help would be great. Thanks

Ok will try that. Is prop right for this style boat bottom?

I would think that 280 would like a bigger wheel 28 or 30 ,weight of boat if you know, would help tim

Thanks for the info you have shared.
I have several cleavers to try from big boat.
Headed to test this afternoon.

rgsauger on here will probably chime in but that is the same hull he has. What year hull is it? (that will be a good indicator of the weight and layup) Here is a link to the bbcboards thread on it: http://www.bbcboards.net/rare-boat-brands/336645-setting-up-shadow-mod-v-20-bass-boat.html

Should run very well with that power, be sure to update us. Unfortunately I had to sell mine before restoring it and running it, I just sold the same exact hull to someone locally out here.

14x30 cleaver runs the best.
Went 100mph with it felt very stable.
Spun the 280 to 7200rpms.
will prolly run 105 or so spinning motor up to 8000.

Yes, cleavers and other over the hub designs such as the Merc ET chopper and especially the Hoss Hyperdrive and Triton props run best on these boats. I have an 86 kevlar hull 20 ft 8 in Shadow Tunnel Vee Bass boat which I think with the exception of mine's kevlar construction and it being a bass boat is the same hull.

My best prop to date is my Hoss Hyperdrive 15 x 28"p. but I also have a Hoss Triton in a 14 x 28"p. Both of these are 3 blades and are my speed props. For fishing my best prop is a custom 4 blade Ron Hill O/T Cleaver in a 15 x 28"p., and the elusive Hydromotive Intimidator Quad 4 in 15 x 27"p. I also run a Yammie drag 4 in 14 & 1/2 x 25 pitched up to 27 when I want to put on a water show -throws one heck of a rooster tail and it will snap your neck back when ya punch it! he, he, he ha ha!:D

My motor is an 86 Rude XP 200 looper with a stock gearcase (Bob's nose cone to be added soon) and with just my 120 lb's aboard, a light tackle load, and 1/2 tank of gas I run mid 80's with my Hoss Hyperdrive or my custom Ron Hill 4 blade cleaver both 15 x 28p. I run high 70's low 80's depending on conditions with my other props.

My jackplate currently on the boat is an 8" setback Bob's manual that looks identical to yours, and I'm running about 3" below pad (w/o a low water pickup nose cone I won't go higher for fear of blowing my new powerhead). However, I just purchased a new 8" Hydrodynamics RapidJack jackplate I will be replacing the Bob's with when we have our first cold snap down here in Florida.

Just remember with these Shadows they have plenty of built in bow lift, so stern lifting props such as cleaver's and choppers are best in either an over the hub, or an over/thru hub like my Ron hill is.

105 is badazz but I bet ya can get a lil more out of her with that big mill ya have with a little more pitch on the same style prop. Me, I'm a bass fisherman and the 80's is fast enough for me but 90 wouldn't be bad either -we'll see after I install my Bob's nose cone and I can get my motor higher.:reddevil:

These are great hulls and their stability at high speeds is unmatched. Enjoy your ride and keep us posted. I'd like to see some photos of the whole boat.
