What would you guys do to build the ultimate V4? Who would you have build it? EFI or carbs? Only restriction is it must be based on the '85-87 1.8L block. Race motor. 30-45 min races, offshore.

Or somebody sell me their modified motor/powerhead!

You can take a look at my Yamaha V4 build thread if you like. I dont think its the ultimate V4 but should be healthy and reliable. Gordon at Monty Racing did the work.

Is 1.8 liter the displacement limit or does it just have to be based on that block?

The V4 is basically 1/2 of the V8 and Monty has made some good power with those. M-tech V4 with EFI? Sounds cool, if your check book can keep up. :)

Definitely go efi they need compression to get the punch into em can you do a big bore 2.0 liter is easy to get with those get it finger ported someone like Monty could bottom feed it if you want to see it turn up use a Yamaha. Ignition with carbs or if money is no option motec or fast

30 to 45 minute offshore races EFI would be better all around but modified Yammaha carbs will make just as much total power as the EFI. I would look into behind the liner porting and induction mods for the H.P.
