History aside, a complete and thorough marine survey by a knowledgable performance boat surveyer, will educate you on its present state.

It is was a WELL USED race boat. Started life as the Mobil 1 boat. When it was bought and repainted, no expense was spared. Also this is a RACE BOAT, the is no liner or floor in it or back seats. Do I think it is a cool boat and a good buy, YES. But I also know it needs in at least 10K in love......

I rigged the both the Mobil One race boats. That boat in its day was unbeatable! Not the best teams from Mercury Racing could touch it.

Rob Loeffler's old Stock class boat. He was the throttle man. Jim Bistline was the driver. Then later, Tom Russell drove. Albert Enzweiler rigged & maintained his engines throughout all his wins... Rob sold the boat to Bill Weinstock in Boston. Rob then bought a new 28 from Pete@Skater & raced it, moving up a class.

We worked many late nights getting that 28 ready for the galveston race. All I remember is the smell of smoke from Alberts pipe. Tom Russel is one of my best friends and we still hang out running my 28 together. Saw Rob this summer in NC. He has a nice 30 Skater w/300x's.
We all had some great times together back in the day.

Yea, 10K between the tanks and I would guess an interior. The paint job was bad ass too. It was featured in a dupont calender as one of the best the year it was done. This boat does have alot of championship race history and was very fast in the day, 115 plus.....
i think if you are writing checks $10k wont get you much, from what I remember that hull was starting to blister from the tanks right when it got repo'ed, talk was to put alum tanks in it but that obviously never happened. The last owner on LI father in law is a tank builder we used to talk about from time to time.
