Harbor freight sell them and I think they are around $10-$20.

And it works well? How does it work you just scan it over the transom or bottom or does it have little probes? And it tells percentage of moisture in the wood right thru the glass??

I thought they were like almost $200....this cheap one will work pretty well?

I purchased one with probes from a commercial carpet cleaning company, that's what they use to check for water damage. It was less than $50.

Mike do yourself a favor and dont even bother...To Use a moisture meter there is alot more to it than just looking for moisture...I guarantee you will not find a single scarab CC or boat of that style that your looking for that a moisture meter will find DRY....They are all going to be wet and to a point its not going to matter....plus any boat that has a foamed in tank is gonna show wet where the tank is..as well as any area that has aluminum below it is gonna show wet...Mildew on the inside of a transom that harbors moisture will show wet as well as any area thats bottom painted and has been wet in the past week...its basically gonna scare you away from every boat you look at...more what i would look for is structural issues like bad stress cracks and delamination issues that you can see....wiggling transoms when you jump up and down on the motors...soft floors..Stress cracks that are extreme and or in odd places ETC...sounding with a Phenolic Hammer is your best bet as it will help you find real crappy areas...
