Is there a reason that Merc doesn't make a 36 3 blade Cleaver? im hitting the limiter pretty hard with my 34 and would love a 36.... any thoughts on this?

I believe it has to do with efficiency. I read years ago that the most efficient prop is "squared" in measurement. For example 14X28 or 15X30, etc. so when you get that far away from double the diameter, the prop becomes less and less efficient. No idea if this is actually true, but it sounded pretty good:D

Interesting concept. i have heard from a few people that big cleavers i.e 34's run high slip numbers.. i think i'm around 9% right now with the 34 so lets say they had a 36 at 12% it would still be faster..

heres where the yamahas lack... i need 1.62 gears then a 6150 limiter wouldn't matter. but instead yamaha dropped the ball and only has 1.75's and a un removable limiter. RIDICULOUS !!

For the truely impossible problems, you need to call in the First Team. I would dispatch a PM to Mr Yamamoto himself, AKA the Superbender, things that can't be accomplished by mere mortals can be done with a simple flick of the wrist by him:D

I had Rich Junker add some "bite" to a cleaver I ran and it acted a little bigger without really changing the way it ran. I believe he put some more angle at the trailing edge and a little rake out in the tips. You might talk to him or one of the others good prop guys about tweaking your 32.

6250.... I feel your pain...... Oh and BTW 1.62s will probably NOT solve your limiter problem if you can hang onto it.

After some work, a "34" or "36" can make the "prop calculator" say 5% ;)

They make up to 40 in the CNC 5 blade cleavers......time to step up your game...

maybe if i was made of money.... at that point it might be Worth a try.... you need to start working on getting a 1.6 somthing (or smaller) gear ratio in these things.. sportys seem to piss off every week, if i went that route (you already said it) id be broke for sure.

A 2.5 case would be the only way to go..... Ken eats 3.0 cases for breakfast. Merc really f'd up on that one... My OLD Yamaha fishing gears outlast 4 3.0 sporties.. lol. I would think baja200merc would be the best guy to talk to on solving the issue.

I've been thinking about designing some "true", high pitch 3 blade cleavers for the guys that are wanting them?
Look for an announcement first thing next Spring!

How do you like the 3.0 sporty handling? Whats done to the motor?

Have u run it? If its a 1.62 with your prop 110+ is in reach.
