If I'm not able to be near the motor and I'm asking someone to look at it that knows nothing about outboards, what's one of the easiest ways to see if it's one of the 80-81 225's with the 7 pettle front half? I can't really go by serial number on mid as it might not be orig ph. I'm not familiar enough with the difference to know. Thanks

The 225 had a rubber hose down both sides of the manifold that interconnected the manifold runners to each other.

Look down the carb throat,if the reed blocks stand vertical it's a 200.Horizontal its a 225

Yeah, I'm just not sure if it's the orig powerhead and this person doesn't really understand what i'm talking about. It could be a newer 200 with horizontal reeds as well, of course they would only have 5 instead of the 7 on the 225.

If you have 12 allen head bolts (6 each side) visible along with the eight 7/16" bolts it is a 225 as it is a 7 pedal front. The 5 pedal has 1 reed bolt under each carb throat so only 3 will be visible per side (6 total). This is only if itnis a horizontal front. Have him take some pics and post them on here. Hope this helps....

The 225 should have WH-15 carbs if it is still stock.
