Got to wondering the other day about these stabilizers as I've been spending a lot of time on my dads 17ft Bass Tracker with a 60 horse 4 stroke. It does alright but is hard to keep on plane under 20mph (speedo). No since in going with an ugly whale tail when you can go with a Bobs.

Aesthetic wise, I like the Bobs plate. Question is, how effective would it be on something such as a family run-a-bout I/O do you think? My guess is we wouldn't notice a second or two difference between the brands so just go with the Bobs.

The edge looks like it has more area. Not to sure I like that brake at the tail.

Or you can do like me and make one. Resembling the Allison foil, but mine is wider and longer. And the main thing, thicker. I think my Ally foil was flexing. 1/4" thick on that motor and you should be good.

Aside from lower planing speeds..... I had one on a deep v cc. One day I decided to take it off just to see what difference it made.....I put it right back on. On my cc it really helped stabilize the "roll" in quartering seas. At WOT it was out of the water, so it didn't shrub off any speed at WOT.

The bobs is long and skinny. For a boat like yours, I like the Permatrim style.

One thing to be aware of is on a heavy boat in rough water they can break the anti-ventilation plate.
