Here kirk, He accepted my offer of 12,500 today. I just left him a deposite tonight. Its a 1990. what year is your dads? the back entrance is different and the nose on mine is glass instead of wood. I found an old add that said daytona 290. but the new add said daytona 270. could this be a 290? It looks just a tiny bit different. notice the dual vents on the side. heres 2 pics

Some day I would like something like that but I don't live on big water right now. The plan would be to find somewhere to moor on the Mississippi or Lake Michigan and travel to it on weekends. Perhaps when I am older.

I like both boats and when I get closer to buying one I will probably be picking the brains of all the knowledgeable people on this site.

Give my Dad a call at lunch, his is either a 89' or 90'
He has original brochures for those years so I will get them from him and scan them and send them to ya!
Dads has twin 5.7 mercruisers 260 hp each. whats yours have ?
Also I will post photos of dash, Dads is not stock.
Does yours have built in a.c. ?

Just found this ........ On another site I visit occassionally

Quoted by a Thompson owner :

I have a Thompson Cutlass 185 (1991). the deck developed numerous soft spots and I removed it at the end of last summer. I have yet to replace it but plan on beginning this or next week. Removing the old deck was difficult as all edges were fiberglassed in. the best tool I found was a dremel with several cutting blades. It was slow but effective. I was hoping to find that I could purchase some sort of fiberglass deck replacement kit but have not found one as yet. I don't understand why you would build a fiberglass boat with a wooden deck. Before removing the deck I had -0- experience at this sort of thing. If I can be of help - email me.

If they bitch, phukem! So it has no outboards...so what, at least it is forum specific as in General Boating Discussion!:D

Nice boat. Trailer looks kinda small though.;) What kinda top speed with a boat of that size have?

I have been doing a little research on one about 25 to 28' walk around with OBs for fishing in the gulf. Have not figured out which one I want. Going to check on getting a theft recovery so it will knock the price down a lot.

Oh, KK, that is a cool avitar!

I thought it was a cool avatar!!:)
Top end on Dads boat I don't know but I could get 46-47 out of a checkmate I had and dad would go right on by me.So I guess 52?
Its never trailered but outa the water and across the parking lot and into a building for winter storage.
The plates on the trailer have never been renewed since new, since the trailer never leaves the marina.
Boat has a 10' beam so towing would be a problem.
Have some bad photos of it cruzin by on plane I will post those tonight.
I would love ta have a twin outboard offshore fishing rig!!
That would be a party platform that would rock :)!

In a twinoutboard walk around I would consider twin direct injected. Pick your brand stay faithful and go with it. In other words fight fastest, mercury optimax most fuel efficient and yamaha hpdi most durable. I sell merc and we are rigging a 23 deep sided center console with a single 225 optimax I will post performance. I have seen twins on a gill braket on a 25 foot bertram. It ran well for offshore and was really quick. Fuel killed the ability to go to far for the engines were caburated. Rick

Kirk, it has the 5.0 litre 305ci Mercruisers rated for 210hp each and Alpha drives. the guy says it does 39 knots. Im not sure what that equals to in mph's. The AC unit is a portable one that goes into the hatch. The dash board can use a face lift. I plan to redo the dash and all the exterior vinyl. the camper top is only 1 season old and is in good shape. My uncle has a trailer similar to your dads that I can use to haul it and he has an extra boat slip in his backyard he's going to let me use. I cant ask for anything better. Wait, I take that back:rolleyes: I can ask for alot better but this will do until then:D This summer Im gonna have to get my lap top connected with my cell phone cause Im gonna miss reading the forums. I aint gonna be home with this thing. I cant wait now:D With my 100+mph dingy Im gonna wake up all longisland cause I can roll out of bed at the crack of dawn (who's dawn?):D and tear up the flat water. Ok, Ive gotten carried away now, sorry. I feel like a kid again with a new toy.:D

Hi Rick, thanks but the boats I am going to be looking at are theft recovery....in other words the hull will have no motors or electronics. Salt water and computers don't look like they would mix very well. I already have two 150's. All I need is a counter gear case and prop.:)

I went out last summer in a single engine carbed boat. It had well over a 100 mile range on 60 gallons. I really want to have 100 gal per motor just for safety's sake.

Hey KK! Where are those pics of that monster on plane?

That's the flip side to "scream and fly" style boating, "slow and easy" boating. Fry up another mackerel steak while anchored up in the middle of the bay, watchin the rods out the back sippin a cold long neck in the middle of summer :D

A little more cabin and less cockpit than my Sea Ray Amberjack, but very similar. I like it! I say we get Greg to start another forum for cruisers! :D
