99 250hp 3.0 A Couple Questions

1. The alternator belt is slipping. Adjustment is full tight so it's either the wrong belt or it has stretched because it still squeals sometimes on a cold start. There's a Goodyear 15305 on there now, what belt is supposed to be on?

2. The tach is not working right since I swapped from my OMC. Checked for power, harness from the engine and hooked grey wire as signal as per Merc's site. I have a new tach coming but was wondering at what RPM does the warning horn start to intermittently beep as a warning that you're approaching the hard limiter? It sounds like Morse code and I can just get there with my current 24 Trophy. If I lift a 1/4 inch off the foot throttle it will stop instantly.

Thanks Mike. It sounds like Morse Code. It's beeping fast, erratic beeps. Hopefully once this tach shows up it works. Any suggestion on what I should prop it to turn?

I actually have gone back to my 28 trophy from the 30 pro et until I can get my hands on a 28 pro max.

What kind of RPM do you think I should shoot for? I've got a 24 Trophy with a 1.75 lower running 69.5 and someone on the Checkmate site is interested in trading a 26 Trophy. Of course all of this is pissing into the wind without my tach working but I figured if there was an RPM the buzzer started at I would have a clue where I was at. Tach should be here by Thursday so I'll have a chance to wring it out early Saturday morning if all goes well. It's not gonna run as fast as a boat like yours with the same power since it's got no pad, is heavier, and I don't want to run more than the 5.5 inches of setback until I beef the transom up. It should run about 75 with just me in it and all the kids' toys and beach stuff removed though. :)

mike was the et a stock finish or labbed and also way down the pitch good input thanks what went wrong

Greg nothing went wrong. 92 so far and im sure there is more in her:D The et was a pro finish.
