I got a taste of the St. John's at the Toy Run December 2011. Beautiful water running South from Palatka, and also through a creek (Dunn's Creek?) to a lake. I hear on this site that there are many more thing further south - Silver Glenn, lake George, etc--I really want to spend more time on the St. John's.

I'm going to Lake George - St. Johns August 21st - 24th, staying at the Georgetown Marina Lodge & Campground. It's on the North end of Lake George so we can run the lake and the river both. They say the Dunn's Creek run is very nice, we plan on that one day, also planning on running up to Palatka either another day or same day according to time. Plan on checking out Silver Glenn, and Salt Springs, hear both are cool spots.
Anyone in that area with more suggestions, or want to get together to run some? We're going to hit some waterfront restaurants too.

Sid

For a scenic tour ( lots of wildlife ie; gators, birds, ect ) run up the Ocklawaha River , If you run to Palatka or further you can go to Crystal Cove Marina ( W of marker 43 ) for lunch and also Corky Bells ( N of marker 6 ). They are about 3 miles apart from each other. Dunns Creek to Crescent Lake is fun.. 3 Bananas beach front grill is about 5 miles SE.

Most of the boats go out to Ft. Pierce on Sundays, north bridge boat ramp. Saturday is always fun at the Stuart sandbar, just watch out for the big boats they have no mercy ou the little guys. They have been dumping water from the big lake so hopefully it will be high tide, usually the water is crystal clear.
