Hi, i'm new here, i have some difficulty about a steering system. I'm building a new boat with an outboard 250 xs. What brands can i search on for a side ram steering system maybe new or used ? A complete system to fit and run . Thanks guys

Well all you need is a helm, new is not that expensive, hoses, Steering ram and a wing plate. Used and fabricated parts would run about 1000. Thats my set up.

Imco would be your cheapest.....Wingplates are very hard to find for that system. If you are lucky you might find someone who has the 2 piece wingplates and you could use them as a template to make a new set from a machine shop. You also need capilano helm. I have seen a few used ones running around. I cant see a full setup for 1k but it may be possible. Every now and them you see a ram for sale for a decent price. Plus dont forget the tilt pin. In my opinion, If you find a used system for around $2500 to $3000 dont let it slide...don't find them for sale often.

Superbender on here can make you a wing plate. Also Beer30 has two steering ram setups and wingplates.
