Nope. I have a rather small hull (14 ft) that I made a wood mockup this last wknd. Took pics but left them up at camp where the hull is (300 miles north It sucks to get old !) I just want to be sure I'm going in the rite direction. I have to mod everything I own. Gary

What kind of pad are you thinking on a 14 footer ol? True Delta? At 14' your headin into the abyss if you make a mistake!

Greg G Thanks so much for the graph! The boat is only 53" wide at 180lbs . It did about 38 mph with my modified 25 hp with stock cupped 13" pitch prop. The wood mockup pad I made (for patterns) is 5.5" wide and about 5' long. The bottom is a weird tri-hull with the center sponson already 4" lower than the much smaller outer ones. I dropped the pad over the center another 1". I was also thinking of shorting the outer sponsons maybe the 5' to the start of the pad. Just having some fun at my workshop on rainy days at camp. I'm open for any ideas. This forum is a world of info! Thanks again guys. Gary

Don't remember who it was.

Here's a couple more of my favorites. Both Coon asses.

I think this one is Bobby AKA "DaBull" doing what he does as good as anyone on the planet. I believe thats his full zoom 2.5 w/a blue bottle hooked to it on T-Rex's 250 lb Laser. Only boat I ever declined a chance to drive.

Every time you look at that hull you notice something else screwed to it.
I remember meeting him the 1st time and one of his buddies was telling me you could always tell his street cuz there was no stop sign.
He then pointed to Rex's drag plate. You could still make out the "S and T" on the bottom of it :)

That boat ran good. He ran low 90s with a 26 and never tried another prop or motor height. We just pulled that motor Down and the wiseco oil lands were worn flat and 5 pins were about to fall out. its so out of round a .040 won't clean up the bores.

Every time you look at that hull you notice something else screwed to it.
I remember meeting him the 1st time and one of his buddies was telling me you could always tell his street cuz there was no stop sign.
He then pointed to Rex's drag plate. You could still make out the "S and T" on the bottom of it :)

Those signs are made from some good stuff. They make a good bottom cowl plate too.

The wind was blowing pretty good that day from the right, the boats were being pushed around. Made it exciting to watch.

That was T Rex.
He did it to piss off Merc after they declined to support him and his racing.
It's a Merc that he sectioned a Chrysler cowling for.
Youd have to know him.

Hes a hard core Chrysler car guy. He drag races a mini van he built w/a big block in it.

Allisons look the best on the pad. IMHO Although I do like looking at the big, heavier, slower boats being over trimmed, or jumping a wake getting some air.

whipper
05-11-2016, 05:15 PM
Thats because Allison invented the pad. haha Most boats dont have a lip aka {pencil roll}. its a key factor on any Allison to get the flat look while on the pad. It forces the bow down while lifting the stern up. The shape of the hull is all built around that pad. Very ingenious.

FMP
05-11-2016, 06:11 PM
What year did they first build a pad hull? 1966/67 the same year as CHRYSLER patened the Hydro-Vee Delta Pad hull.

whipper
05-12-2016, 03:13 PM
Yes 67 is correct. Well at least thats when the patent was excepted for a vee hull. The Deep vee hull pad was in 68. 69 was the year a vee hull consumer production pleasure boat first broke 100 mph. It was a 18ft Allison with twin 125,s.

Tomorrow is the big day for the new 2016 XR2002 deliveries. There will be a few more pad shots coming from those bad boys soon i hope!
