Hi. I had a problem with the trim sensor. I need to change the trim sensor and I also have to calibrate the sensor. How do I calibrate the trim sensor for an Optimax DFI 200 hp engine? Also, my boat has the Smartcraft gages installed. Thanks.

If you have the full smartcraft gages, rather than the little rectangular Mercury Monitor box, then you can review the full owners manual with all settings and calibration procedures at:
http://www.mercurymarine.com/media/mercury/documents/SmartCraft_Gauges_Owners_Guide.pdf

It also helps to get a good night's sleep and have two cups of coffee in you before you start to go thru all the directions!

It is real easy...
press mode and + button for a couple of seconds to get in the calibration menu. Keep pushin until calibration 1.
You will need to activate trim sensor in the external sensor chapter.
Only then you calibrate the trim itself in the 3 positions. Full down, full up and trailer point....
it is a no brainer once you know the system.
In some models merc puts analog trim senders instead of digital, if yours doesnt work after calibration...
