Ok guys, I need your opinions here:). I'm wanting a good HVLP spray gun so I can re-clear our bassboat and do a couple of little projects of my own:). I've have heard good things about DeVilbiss paint guns, and I like the Finishline 2 model at the top of the page, gravity fed. (http://spraygundepot.com/devilbiss_files/finishline.html). I know some of you guys paint like Randy(WILDMAN) and others. I have been reccomended this gun, I know its not high class, but its in my price range:)

I appreciate all your help!

Why are you looking for a HVLP gun?
I've tried a lot of top end HVLP guns and they still don't spray as good as the old HP guns...............
I use a DeVillbiss HP top loader and can't say enough good things about it.
Another HP gun that I bought as a spare, that has continued to impress me for the price, is the Mac tools Econo Coat gun. Maybe I just got a "good" one, but that sprays as good as the DeVillbiss gun (without the price :D )
Good luck

Ya, I know, but they (so far) have clamped down on industry. You can still use them privately. Why does everything thats good for the environment have to be so crappy for quality!!!!!!!!

Actually an airless would be the best, with electro-static. They are BIG bucks though.

It is a formula....Good for the environment=crappy products. Crapy products=Good for the environment. Quality product=crapy for the environment.!!!!:D ;) It sux!!

Then they make the product thats good for the enviorment cost more than the product that dus a better job and is crappie for the enviorment.Either way there gonna have it worked so you pay the most for your product.:)

For some reason it cost more to make and enviromental friendly product even though it is cheaper quality!! Its all about the $$!! If something cost 5.00 to make, they will sell it for 50.00!! :D ;)

I bought a $45 hvlp at Pace warehouse before they closed. It is some cheap copy. It worked great for primer and such, did paint some CC with it, but the pattern was tight and it was hard to get used to. Maybe 80-90% as good layout, but hard to not have wet/dry spots on complex shaped parts/cars. Also needed a regulated pressure pot, it had the head pressure. I used it for color some, but the Devillbiss for clear. The hvlp takes less product, so it saves $$ for sure.

That is the deal, I seen the same cheap gun for twice the $$, just a ripoff. I would not be afraid to paint a boat with it at all, since it is pretty flat and open.

We use Sata HVLPs. They are high quality German guns. We use a 1.3 fluid tip and have a 1.4. If you keep it really clean the 1.3 is perfect. Very light action and nice ajustment range. Nothing breaks on these. But even with these, when you spray clear you have to have enough pressure to knock down the clear, so practice on something until you get a good wide spray pattern and enough pressure to knock the clear down a little. Look fo the reflection of your light in the spot you're painting to evaluate your coat.

Not necessarily so.......

HVLP and RP guns have a better transfer efficiency, more paint on the part instead of the air.

SATA is the shyt! SATA JET RP.....not the cheapest, but if you use it a lot, it is well worth the money!

Thanks, you would have to hold it in your had to get the full affect.

For a cheaper gun, Sharpp makes an HVLP gravity feed for a lot cheaper. It is called a Cobalt. Avalible in different fluid tips too. I have one I use for a primer sealer gun.

1 to 10...Cobalt 6, SATA JET 12+;)
