Anybody have any firsthand experience using this stuff? I have a couple friends that seem to think it's good stuff. I'm just looking for some "insurance" on my "new to me" 2.5/337s - Marty says they're fine on pump gas 91 octane, as long as it's truly 91 octane. I always cut my 91 with 20% 110 leaded race fuel when I had the 2.5/280 on my Mirage, but I refuse to go through that much hassle when fueling a big boat with twin 70 gallon tanks. Any feedback on personal experience with this stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm going to order some today now. I've got some 110 leaded that I'll cut my 91 with this weekend, but I'll start just running straight pump 91 with Aces once I get it. Again, it's just for insurance reasons, but I'm glad to hear your guy's real-world experiences with it. I'll put the motors on the gauge when I pick up the boat Friday, but from what Marty told me, they should be as-stock at 150-155.

Charlie (mcrsr) in Port St. Lucie is also a dealer for ACES .
It's a little more money going in than my home brew Toluene / Mineral Spirits / Seafoam cocktail. But in the long run , has proven to be much cheaper ..

:iagree: 100% At one time he was offering free shipping for S&F members. Never hurts to inquire.

How much compression could be run on a 200efi svs combo on a 1500 lb hull with a 27 p prop that will spin 6000-6400 depending upon load.
also ski,with a 24 p prop that turns 6500-7000 depending on load
deepwater slalom starts that lug the motor a bit

@xbo3fs. Jay Smith did some REAL WORLD testing with ACES about three years ago on a Hopped up V6 2.5 at I believe ( mid to high 190's compression range) mixed at 1 oz to 4 gallons with no pre detonation issues and no negative results.

Is this the same thing as TK7, maybe just a different name?

It is tk-7, it was tested on a Dyno in Florida on one of our motors it did some interesting things.

From what I'm reading it seems like the only "verifyable" benefit fro this product is the added protection from mechanical wear. But I'm no chemist, just a guy who read thru 35/45 pages of arguing about this stuff.

Is it ok to mix Aces with Ethanol and non-ethanol fuels? Is there a different ratio with either? I can't always find non-ethanol fuel where I am at so that is the reason for the question.

mrcrsr

yes you can mix it w/ ethanol fuels. seems like people don't listen to people who've used it and found it works

yes you can mix it w/ ethanol fuels. seems like people don't listen to people who've used it and found it works
I've also listened to people calling the manufacturer of it and him saying it will fail a knock test. And listener to a guy who blew up twin 280's. That creates some kind of doubt in my head, enough to cause concern.

the 280's did not blow from aces ..

tony97gt

the 280's did not blow from aces ..

What caused them to blow? I was under the impression from the 30ish pages of back and forth that you were told to run race fuel from Marty and Joe and that you used the Aces thinking the octane boost would increase the numbers equal to that of race fuel, and the engines blew because the Aces didn't perform.

If I remember correctly they were your 280's, right? Sorry I did A LOT of that reading at like 4am.

not mine ,but there could of been other things going on ,ecu's timing, porting ,these from what i read were highly modified
and if and or required race fuel and or too much timing was used ,and thought aces was ok could be a fool to me aces works on stock or mildly modified engines say an engine that is built for 93 octain only to have 91 today then aces would be fine so you dont have to pull timing back to 23 like i did for last 2 years ,since i went to aces i was able to go to 25 and pick up lost power , and cut back on oil from 32 to 1 to around 38 to 1

I'm more concerned with the ethanol than the octane

mrcrsr
10-11-2013, 06:22 AM
try running 180 psi compression on pump gas w/ ethanol and see what happens, my 3 litre has been running on that for 200 hours now w/ no issues, and its not on a lite boat. and many other people have done the same, as stated in the other posts. i am not going to beat this dead horse again...

Man Charlie I can't for the life of me figure out what some people don't understand about Ethanol and Gas. Ethanol has a octane of 114.
So its only negative affects are water absorsion over time and hose deterioration. Unless all hoses are impervious to ethanol.

Also ACES provides a octane affect of up to 102 mixed with 93 pump gas. So if your engine requires a octane fuel higher than 102. Maybe you shouldn't rely on ACES alone HUH??? But regardless it still has a upper cylinder lubricity factor which can never hurt..

Does Aces have a shelf life? I have a quart from 2012 and might it still be good? Stored in a cool dry metal cabinet, never seen sunlight.

I can assure you that even if you keep the bottle for 1000 years, it will have the same so-called "octane effect".

The guy I bought my velocity from ran 91 pure gas klotz 40:1 oil with aces 4 2a additive since rebuild on my 280 over 11 years ago and have had no issues. I've kept up the same stuff since I was so impressed with that combo. I at first wasn't so sure on the aces and ran it mixed strong last season my first season with the motor and now trying to order more and will mix it 1oz to 6 gallons from now on since it's too pricey to me to be wasting it.
