very fun boat. Should run great with that power.
I just got rid of mine and Im sure I will regret it at some point.
Handles very nice and great rough water boat.
Mine had a 2.4 240 efi on it and ran in the mid 90's any day.
Mine liked 10"s of setback and did not need a jackplate just a setback.
Mine also like a hoss cut. mine was a cut big ear chopper 29" pitch.
Also note it loved trim. mine would get the bounces and to get out of them I would trim up.
have fun.!
Dago.

Like most any old boat, check the core, transom, and floor for rot. You're better off buying a boat that's already been restored. Not many 1988 boats don't need restoration.

It all depends on how much it weighs, and if you are going to top end the prop selection and driving window is very narrow.

88's were the heaviest of the run. It may not have the hull and deck supports either. As already mentioned, check or assume that it is water logged. If its heavy, it will take a lot more than 225 hp to get her to air out and run hard.

Hi, I bought an Hydrostream HST a couple of day ago with the same set-up.......it would be awkward if it were the same boat we,re talking about. Mine was purchased in Valleyfields Qc, the floor was redone from what i could tell and the transom sound very rock solid. So I could expect a run in the mid 90's with this set-up. ( it has a 28'' big ears chopper prop)
