Figured I'd ask here because my Google searches seemed to keep popping S&F threads up :)

I brought this home yesterday.
Seller said it's a '69 Renken (title says '72) and it has a Renken data plate, listing model "600AA" stamped into it. I cannot find any model 600AA references online. The data plate is screwed (not rivited) into a place that does not look "OEM" so I am suspicious.
The title says the model is an Renken too. (edit: I originally put AQUA because I'm a dummy and was looking at the trailer title)'
Any guesses?
Thanks!

Do not stop to quickly on the road, boat may go thru your back window very easily.
In our part of the world, something very similar was called a Mach-1, but that would not be what it was originally called

I drove home VEEEEERY carefully with that setup :) It was kept in the lake in front of the PO's house.
I need to get some proper straps for it.

Back in the day there were a few boat manufacturers that made splash copies of the Glastron GT-150. This is my '72 GT-150 http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj306/gregpro50/20130615_145929_zps8842a4d2.jpg (http://s275.photobucket.com/user/gregpro50/media/20130615_145929_zps8842a4d2.jpg.html)

Holy crap, it's a dead knock off of the GT150!

Any way to tell if it's a "real" Glastron? Assuming the data plate is made up, that is.

I can tell it's not just by looking at it. The boat is probably closer to the GT-160 model because of the upswept stern. http://www.classicglastron.com/74gl-gt150-160.jpg

Interior.
No, I am not happy with how this was set up, but I'll be fixing that.

Close but no cigar!--Not saying its not a knockoff. But the GT150 dosen't have the duck tail spoiler, at rear. But close enough that I think there was a little splashing going on:D-----In the day, the GT was a very popular boat, and the incentive to copy it was going strong.

Looks like they were aiming to copy the GT-160.

There were a few similar to that up here years ago. The company was Vangard? spelling ?

I'd have to say its a splash of a GT150 just by looking at the shape of the sides with the only real difference is the rear spoiler . Not very close to a GT160.

I Know That Boat...... It really is a 1972 .... the 1969 was a little confusion my Dad caused..... He purchased that boat back in 1974 in the "Isle Of Palms" S.C. area .... Moved to Virginia around 1979.... sold the boat in the mid 1990's... needed restoration really bad... the 1969 J65 Johnson Stinger didn't run by then... when he originally registered the boat he registered it as a 1969 because he assumed the boat and motor were the same age.... a little detail on your boat... Compared to a GT-150 ... your Renken IS 14' long ... the GT-150 is 15' long..... Your Renken is approximately 75" or so wide .... the GT-150 is about 77" or so .... Under the front hood there are no boxes or compartments just open space... a single glove box and a speedometer is in the dash ..... the GT-150 had a fuel tank in the front ..... the Renken is designed for loose tanks at the rear..... The DATA tag is the original .... my Dad put screws in it in the mid 80's because the rivets had worked loose..... The GT-150 is rated to 80 HP and the Renken is rated to 85 HP if i remember right... your boat was designed for racing obstacle coarse at higher speeds with higher than normal stability and agility..... Not sure why we can't find it online ... i've been looking for years to try and find one like that .... i grew up with that boat and loved it.... i hope this helps you...
