This hurts worse than I thought

I know that some of you have recently lost your best friend,I like animals,but I lost a friend of another kind today.After sleeping on it last night,the decision was made to kinda put down a very close friend,My 1978 2.4 formula motor.I bought it new at the age of 26 for $3500 (dealer cost)over the past 35 years it has been one hell Of a good motor.It was ported by L&S in 80 Drag pack with nitrous,and converted to seven petal in 81.has only ate cylinders two times,both from cracked water plates in the chest.And after 33 years it lost a stator.Not bad! The last time out,it was happy to take the Viking to 90 mph pumping only 90 psi on two cylinders.(Hardy Party)Not scored just out of round and can't pump anymore.So off it comes,and it will be torn down and become the donor for a new 2.5 project.And maybe part of it can go another35278179.:(:(:(

That sounds like it has been a shining star example of a reliable, strong lake motor... I know this isn't what you want to here, but I'm gonna bet your next one won't fill those shoes..

Ya,it took me to first place at eastern summer high points race in 81or82 set a course record at columbiaville same year in comp outboard,and went to the lake every weekend and spanked the BBC boys.You are right that will never happen again.Neather of us,Boat,Motor,Man,are up to it!:D
