Galen always told me it is worth .3 in ET,but that does seems
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioHkAf9S_Tc&feature=player_detailpage like a lot..i love the handling compared to sporty especially on deceleration.this is a race against a twin turbo jet with 18PSI boost last weeekend.i am running XR6 1.78 ratio with real short 22 clopper/drag cut by Rich at leading edge that is only good for 900-1000'

So ur running the small gear case? with 1.78?I thought the xr6 was a large case with 1.87. The xr4 was a 1.78 small case.

So that case is handling the torque well under that hard of acceleration? Thinking of trying that combo on my Quartermaster.

Both are small. 6 is a "little" better. Later 6's (don't remember when it changed) are tha big case.........Little ones will give up sooner or later though with tadays stuff.

its modded with Mad EFi heavy duty carrier, ground all teeth off of reverse gear and tak welded cross pin on clutch slider.
i try not to ever shift it...
only use it for dragging with real short 22p chopper drag cut by Rick Junker

I blew up 3 small gearcases in 20 years with a lightly modified XR4, and I went out of my way to make them live. I think you could go through a few a lot faster with more power.

Unless you are racing, I wouldn't use the small case.

two styles of 1.78 case's first was on the XR4 then second genration( different bearings and case )came out on the later Xr4 then on to XR6 then on out the back door as not beefy enough for gear slammers and stabbing 400 ponies to it at one shot they unravel:eek: last xr6 were just plain old fishin mota cases

the big pinion brng 1.78s i believe has last 4 digits of casting #247C and will take some abuse, the others were wimpy pin brng same as inline6 and wont take much

It seems to work better than a yamaha on my motor

IT works real good, but i havent compared to yamy 22
my yamy 24 gives up prob a 1.5 boatlength on holeshot to Rich's 22,but will pull to 1100-1200 feet to 112mph,where the 22 will only pull to 900-1000' at 102mph,again with 1.78
