Well they are fresh water motors,2 strokes are getting harder to find,but yeah maybe he is off a little bit on his price.Maybe he should put in his ad that they are 2.5s:D

As a benchmark, I think Instigator paid about $1000 for a used V6 Ficht from about that era. That was for a single engine.

These are less than $4000 for each engine, which is a bargain for someone who wants trouble-free OMC ownership. After all, there about half as many just-before-bankruptcy-junk parts on an inline 3 than on a V6, so the chance that something will break is a lot lower.

To make it even sweeter, the seller will not charge for shipping if you pick them up yourself.

Ahhhh, The owner has been smoking something when he priced them:) They are however one of the best carb 2 strokes ever made. I have owned a 1976 and a 1979. I had no money to speak of and never needed a repair or much fuel. One was on a 14ft G-3 Glaspar and the other on a 15ft Baja. Just my experience.

Price is more than just a bit out of line. Engines are 12 years old. Plus, if these engines were some of the last built by OMC then a good chance they have had or will have problems. The QC dept. did not exist at OMC the last several years that they were in business. My offer would be a thousand each.

My offer would be a thousand each. :iagree: Those years the motors weren't the best, I have see many a powerhead come loose ,as well as many other problems. Nada says MSRP $5863 - 2001 $1085 However rebuilt 1990 or newer I easly get $3000 any day of the week. At this point in life if these motors are still running all issues should be worked out so may be good motors.

For what ever it's worth. I received this from the seller via (Contact Seller on E-bay) after I asked "What are the compression numbers and Leakdown numbers.

Dear hlc9578,

I am in Afghanistan. will be in the States June 20 - July 9.
I don't have the compression numbers. The heads were professionally shaved last year for better performance and compression. The reeds were changed at the same time, to fiberglass. Both are right hand rotation.
