I am installing a 1997 Pro max 150 with 3 ram power trim. My old motor was a 1987 Black max 150. The old motor had 2 solenoid for the power trim and the new has 2 relays. There are 4 wires from the relays and I have 3 wires from my power trim switch (up, down, and power). I cannot find anywhere how to wire these up. I don't have the motor yet so i don't know what color the 4 wires are on the relays, i just have seen the parts diagram shows them. My wires are blue, green and red. Any help is very appreciated.

A 1997 should have a 2 wire trim motor and the small fully incapsulate trim solinoids. The harness from the solenoids has two leads that connect to the trim motor and to "signal" leads (blue and green) from the switch that energize the solenoids and control direction. Hope this helps.

Thanks Go Time. When the motor arrives it sounds like it should be self explanitory.

Going thru the same thing... put a 1979 powerhead with 1979 controls on my 1987 black max 135 lower leg with the trim built into it. solenoids need to be trans planted over to the 79 power head. Seems like they take a really simple pump and ram set up that should just have a switch for up and down..... And WAY over engineered it... lol

good luck

Not over engineered...motor current is too much to run thru the small trim switch contacts....engineered just right :D

Point taken... I must have had it running thru a bad ground before. lucky I didn't burn them up.

appreciate the input.

327384327385 Any clue how /where to mount the solenoids on the 79... carbs do not have the bolt hole and the choke is in the way... was going to swap carbs. but didn't really want to since the 79 runs fine the way it is.
