Jack the motor up as hi as you can and put the highest pitch SST prop on you can spin at 6K.

The boat will have no hole shot and won't carry a load but you might have some fun for about 2 outings...

...Then go shopping for a V6...You'll wish you had done it sooner!

Sincerely,

The 15 foot Hydrostream was called the Viper. They are a quick boat and were raced in the APBA at one time. Be carefull !!! At speeds above 75MPH they will blow over very easily if you get careless. With the OMC 70 HP you will get into the 50 to 55 MPH range with the right prop. there are a lot of Raker props around --- borrow a 13 1/2 X 20 or 22 inch and play with motor heights and possibly some setback. You could also try a small ear 14 X 22 Merc chopper.

I have a GT 150 to bolt on but I'm afraid it won't float the motor. The boat boat is a 1988 and it's not a Viper.
A few years ago I had a 17 V King with a 150 GT with internal modifications and she ran in the low 90's.But
when you get married you buy bigger and slower boats. Now it's time to get up and go again."Hey Raceman" if I can't get this one to go I will buy an Ally GS with a 280 Merc.

Anthony's suggestions are dead on. If ya get bored with that 70 though, try a V-4, they can run good with the right mods. I put a Vector into the high seventies/low eighties (no GPS, just calculated) with an old '76 135 Johnson and a 24 Raker. :)

if it's not a Viper what is it. Dont keep us in suspense.
Ditch the jon boat motor and get something in the v-6 range. You'll be glad you did.

I don't imagine the "Vandalism Package" would go over too well with your insurance company ;-) I could be wrong but I think it's "Vandalizer" Should be a rocket with a V6!

" Yeh I know ' I wouldn't refer to it by that name when I fill out the paperwork. They call it a " Vandalizer" but in my eyes with that much ponies I had to rename it.It should be alot of fun but gonna have to be very cautious one little mistake can really hurt.
