I would like to learn more about which gear ratio is most effective for a 23 feet catamaran weighing around 2000 lbs.
sport master 1.62 or 1.75.
Obviously you could adjust you propeller but I would like to know more about gear ratio applications.

The rev limit of your engine and the desired top speed will play a major role in gear selection. The difference between the two gear ratios is similar to 2" of prop pitch. So say your boat is hitting the rev limiter with 1.75's and you are already swinging a 32" prop the choice is to try and find a reasonably priced 34" or higher pitch or go with taller gears.

Personally I would go with the 1.62's and then be able to run props in the 30"-32" range instead of trying to chase down props in the higher pitch range.

Which motor/s ? Single or twins? True tunnel or center pod hull? need more info...

Thanks for the info,
I already have a 1.62 gear-case and the cat is a true tunnel.
just wanted to know the difference and thanks stitch king I understand now that most cats would opt for 1.62 as they are able to turn higher pitch props.

Is the Cat your mentioning the All New Jozie Cat??

Yes its estimated to do 180 MPH with a single 300xs but I cant beleve that... Therefore I came here to clear up somethings..

I heard that simulator runs got close to 160. The work should pay off when considering 3 years or R&D in Wind tunnel simulators. He wont post pics as this new radical design is top secret.

Ha....you'll need a 1.62 gear ratio with a 49 pitch prop to go 160! 2000 pounds is a heavy single....

Building a custom 1.3 : 1 Gearset for the LU. This is not a normal cat. It features active aerodynamics which are electronically controlled. This boat is the latest in Aerodynamic technology. Has been in wind tunnel testing for quite a while now. Tests show results very close to 160 right now... The Jozie Cat should be in the water very soon.

Can you please explain how "test results show 160 mph"? Im very curious to find out how you actually can get a speed number of how fast a boat will go from a wind tunnel. I know people who have use wind tunnels on models that can calculated drag and lift/downforce tendencies at certain speeds, but never actual top speeds. Plus wind tunnels dont factor hydrodynamic drag.....power to weight ratio is also critical. ...300/2000 gives us 1hp for 6.6pounds....if that will run 160, all my boats go 200mph.

Jozie’s results are leading us that once going about 130 mph the lift will result to 1928 lbs, virtually the boat will be all lifted using these aerodynamics and letting us run on just the true power of the outboard... a lot of tests and safety measures have to be taken where still a few months behind. :// Well keep you posted and might put up some pictures for you. thank's for your interest

Also, the active aerodynamics change the lift whenever required an have enough lift to fly the cat. Also it can produce downforce for rough conditions. All controlled by an intelligent new ECU system called MIQA. The possibilities for this system are endless. Hydrodynamic drag can easily be calculated at given speeds, lift and several other parameters, hence the speed simulation. We do not know the exact details of how the system works as we are clients for the new Jozie cat and not the actual builders.

"if I told you I'd have to kill you" comes to mind.
Maybe just looking for investors

When it sounds to good to be true, it usually is......when someone tells you numbers 50mph faster than any other 2000 pound boat with the same motor ya cant help but shake your head......the fact that the boat cant carry its own weight till 130mph would be a huge negative to a potential buyer who understands what that means.....

Yep I'm an investor in return I will be one of the first people to own one of this cat's... Hopefully it will catch on and might cash in some profits if everything works out fine.
this is my first time investing in something like this usually I tend to go for tech companies... hopefully the jozie's cat will work out giving the reaction of everyone ..

They posted a picture but its invisible like wonder woman's jet :D the secret switch broke and will be 20 years before they ever make a new one. I am interested in the next best thing like everyone else , but with them speed claims would have to say someone needs to step away from the epoxy fumes for a while

Yur too late .. I just went 182.3 mph yesterday in my new Twin wing TubeinCrafterz hydrofoil .. I attribute this to Superior wing and airstream fuselage design. Of course the Kevzilla 200 hp e-tyeck went a long way in providing the power we needed to make these speeds a reality.
We wish you well in catching up to our advanced, engendering, concepts and design, but we feel confident that you will be so mesmerized by our dancer that you will miss the finer points of our new hooptie.
Once the cooler is run closer to empty, our math calculations have us breaking the 200 mph barrier with ease ...
