With all things done correct and using a quality kit what is the biggest shot of nitrous a stock 300x can handle safley? The factory cast pistons seem to be the weakest link to me.

Not much with the stock rods.

I have a 100hp shot on mine with forged pistons.
But I only got it to turn 8600rpm's so far.
It's always a good idea to start small and establish a Nitrous / Fuel ratio and timing map that provides for a clean trouble free tune-up. From there it becomes easy to add anywhere between 30 to 50% increase to the base power level.

3.0 litres engines don't like nitrous. Can't retard the timing easily.Make a bracket to set the crank sensor back 5 degrees.Maybe your motor will have a chance.

You don't have to retard the timing, you can compensate that with good fuel and plenty of it.
