I just aquired a 98 150 Promax with around 275hrs on it. The previous owner changed the reeds and put the promax 200 exhaust tuner in it, he also removed the oil injection. My questions are what gains is the 200 tuner providing and I also have a set of WH-22 carbs, would I be ahead to swap the EFI setup over to the carbs for more power. Or what is my best move on increasing the power output?
Thanks
Tuner probably didn't do alot but I doubt it hurt anything. I would also do some research before using 2.4 carbs. Cutting heads to raise compression would be my first step. Use good gas.

Thanks I planned to cut the heads down, I always did on my 2.4's and made a huge difference.

1978 Checkmate V-Mate II 17'
I had a slightly modded 2.4 200 with Shaved Heads, Chris Carson Reeds and WH-22 Carbs with a nose coned case. It would run 83mph on GPS with a 26p Ron Hill Chopper.

Cut the heads and enjoy it, leave the EFI. SVS Intake and a PCU would be the only other things that will help. But cutting the heads is the best gain for your money.

Run it and see how it acts. My son had one of those and it was a real screamer for only being a '150'. Heads are all I would do to it if anything.

Yep. The tuner probably helped because of that really long tuner they had in the 150. Definitely leave the EFI on there. If you want more power I'll trade you for a 225 that needs one piston and no machine work, haha!

Thanks for all the replies! At least I have something to compare it to. Do you think it should out perform the 2.4 200 I was running?

The River looked perty good this weekend. Let us know how it does run. I am not too far from you, just east of Canton.

Wouldn't expect it, unless the 2.4 was tired.
