So I'm interested in buying a DCB extreme 24. I am aware of DCB boats in general. Can any talk about the specifics of this boat? Owned one, rode in one, raced one etc..

How does it handle chop and waves etc.

Is there a different forum that may be better suited for DCB info?

NO, you're in the right spot. HAve you thought about calling Dave at DCB ? Good guy, he could answer all of your questions and then some....

I think what you're going to find is that there just aren't a lot of DCB's out there. They don't make a ton of boats, but what they do make are absolutely over the top in every way - including price. Of course that's what limits the number of DCB's. And smaller hulls - like the 24' - are even harder to find.

Are you trying to sell me your Progression?

Lol just kidding. I've actually found one I'm interested in.

What year is the DCB Extreme 24 you are looking at and does it also carry the "HP" lettering on the side anywhere?

Not sure on the HP the side pics are at an angle so it show the gloss

Its a 1997

1997 was early in the Extreme's run. Post a picture up.

The origins of that hull stemmed from the DCB Extreme 22, the molds for which actually were created by Eliminator around 1992. Dave rigged for Eliminator as he started out in business. In 1995 DCB bought the molds, and tweaked the 22 Extreme's a touch I believe offering a stepped version with pad (super rare and called the Extreme "HP") and just a pad version just called the Extreme. Once DCB had the 22 Extreme in house they produced that model in both I/O and O/B models. The 24 Extreme was a spin off from the 22's which DCB had good luck with so they stretched and re-tooled for a 24. The 24 Extreme was there new mold, not bought from anyone else. When I see your photo I can provide more insights. I believe that in 1997 the 24 Extreme would have been a pad bottom with a single step. Probably has 502MPI power. You will want to measure the actual running surface for length. My mind is foggy but I seem to remember that there was an integrated swim platform on that model and it might have been included in the "24 Foot". I can't be sure on that piece though as 1997 was an early build.

The closed deck's are kind of rare. I'm not sure what type of water you want to use it in but that hull is most likely only 19 degrees of deadrise with a very wide pad of 12" if I remember correctly. Now the thing that is throwing me is it looks like a twin step bottom, not a single step. It could just be the picture playing games. Have you driven a pad bottom stepped hull in the past? Notice also how deep the swim platform is. That may account for at least 2' of length. Clean boat though with updated power although only 375HP. The 502MPI made 415HP. It really depends on your intended use. DCB started building the 22 Extreme models in late 1995. I bet the boat you are looking at is one of the first 24 Extremes out of the mold in 1997. With that motor I would think 63-65 driver only and light on fuel. Would make a nice lake boat, just confirm what is going on with the step situation. I can't imagine there are two, probably only one step.

Lake use. It can get pretty choppy at times, but usually isnt too bad. I run a 1992 Baja 240 sport right now (454 carbed).

This boat should be a nice step up in speed, looks like the gel coat is in great shape, and the cuddy in this is more accessible than mine.

I think the Sport and the Outlaw were the same bottom at 24 degrees deadrise if memory serves. That is a wave crusher. The DCB will be a substantially different experience (careful with the high speed turns) and you certainly won't see another one in Missouri

If it is local to you the price is about right if everything checks out and the trailer is a custom hensley or similiar that was built for the boat. Good luck.

How would it be different? The turning.

If you can, take it out. There is no replacement for seat time. The boat looks great, but get it inspected or and least pull out the seats, and pull carpet back and look it over real good. DCB's are real good boats. I don't know what book is but you won't get it for book, just my opinion. Good luck.

I have been burned by that jpf, I will never buy a boat without driving....

In the hull of the Baja mine is different then the outlaw, mine is a 240 sport ES. Integrated swim platform, with a 22 degree deadrise

Can I ask them to do a leak down test with me there?

Given the absurdly high quality of a factory / stock DCB, I'd be real interested to see if the re-rig with the 496 was done to the same standards.

I agree with that, and would want to know who did the work as well. Did you buy the 24 Extreme Snprhed?
