I own a roofing company. We were replacing a roof on a Sams Club here and during the work we had a storm come through that lifted the temporary covering on a section of the roof that just happened to be over the beer area causing leaks. The only thing that happened is the cartons got a little wet but they couldn't sell them so it turned into an insurance claim. Once it was settled they asked me if I just wanted them to throw it out or whether I wanted the stuff. I told them I would have trucks up there tomorrow to pick it up.
So now I have three pickup loads of beer. I've never seen my guys so happy to unload a truck. I think I'm going to have unwritten but well known "beer fridays" now where every employee is allowed to take a case of beer home every Friday until it is gone with the understanding that there had better not be any more roof leaks coincidentally over the beer section of these stores in the future. Thank God it was not three pickup loads of tampons.

Nothing says "I'm here to party" more than showing up to the romp in a rusty pickup truck completely overflowing with skunky beer in damaged packaging while towing a hydrostream.

Year old beer sealed good as new to me. NOT that any I have last more than a week:p, but did some yard work for a old girl here. She asked if I want some old beer she had. Said might be a year old? Said, Ill try it...
Hmm....seems beer gets better with age like fine wine and fine women! That "freshness date"?......marketing gimmick. My fav beer has ZERO .."Use By Date"
Now on the ( I bet) coming pix? A loaded beat up work truck with beer the back, couple girls in "Kini's" back there watching over the load, towing the boat, rolling down the road with (think), Rod Stewart's song blasting.."Some guys have all the luck"?
You guys are nuts.........(and the kind I like type people!)

Stuff I got was the bottom the fridge. Zero problem. I got a zillion "Micro Brewer's" here, many who "home brew" near me too. DAMN, the food stores had to build a new aisle, just for the Micro Brewers here, one aisle the big boys, one aisle the small guys. Anyway, if ya talking a couple months the Romp? Zero problem. Heres some skinny..
A general rule of thumb is that beers from large breweries will have a shelf life of approximately 8 to 12 months if refrigerated properly and kept from direct light, or 4 to 6 months at room temperature.
Go for it......

I'll have to take inventory tomorrow. Then I'll be accepting romp orders. I still have to give some to my employees so there isn't a mutiny.

Use up the Sam Adams first as any smaller brews. Any in bottles that can see sunlight. The can Bud lite is good if cool and out light/heat 6 months easy. I been a "kindasewer" beer since the 60's. Ya want the "chits"? Back in Chitown, kill a fresh dozen beers, close down the 2am bars, and hit "White Castle" .."for a Sack!" They "slid" down well, but morning, .."slid out faster!"
Not called "sliders" for nothing!..;):D:thumbsup:

Also while my "soaked and smoked and toked years brain" can still remember. A friend mine back in Illinois, had 4 kids back in the 70/80's. First born, was in his teens, had a damn good garage band, and played some the teen clubs there. What was the name the band? "FREE BEER!" None old enough to drink legal..(like that stopped any anyway?)
So the marque outside said.."Free Beer" Tonight..........:D:thumbsup:
Ya gotta love the kids, and old farts who still know how to have a good time!;)

LOL! :D
Speaking of "Skunky". A buddy of mine use to work as a machinist building parts for the machines that put cans into cardboard cartons. The machines were at least 8' wide and 40+ feet long. They would have to run actual cans (full of beer) through the machine to adjust it so it wouldn't burst or dent the cans. They would run the cans through the machine over and over until the paint was almost worn off. Then that beer, and a few others that weren't run through it, were disposed of. Funny, none of it made it to the dumpster! :) Once they got in some British beer. I remember one was called "Courage Bitter" and was in pint cans. We use to say that "it took bitter courage to drink it". :D Man they drink some stout stuff over there. After about 4 Buds though, it didn't taste so bad. ;)

Funny. In the UK, Stella Artois is called Wife Beater. It tells you something about the perceived classiness of Stella drinkers...

Greg, as a former beer salesman let me assure you as long as the beer hasn't been ''warmed'' [not kept in a cool environment], it'll be fine. A/B always pressed proper rotation of all its products and used the born on date to get the public involved! I've seen beer 2years old fine, beer 3 months old skunky with yeast clouds floating in it, be cool, and enjoy!

Had a thought today, Ya got any avid hunters ya know? Good friend mine (butcher), does bow, black powder, and gun seasons deer/elk/turkey, name it. He here has a "cold room". 12x12 with a AC to keep the skinned and cut up meat hanging there the hunting season to keep cool while either going for more, or get in line for the many processing plants here to cut it up.
Long as kept cool, any ya got should last through summer easy. Or look for a cold storage place ya can rent some space? Just drinking and thinking!
Heres a pic him and the way too cool wife (DAMN SHE CAN COOK!). I swear, the world can go to the crapper cities, but us here kinda rural between the many hunters here, Salmon fisherman, Dungeness crab off the back my boat in the slip, (we get Oysters here free the beach, super low tides, and a zillion clams), and the many "home brewers here"? Pretty self sufficient us. Seems all here "own a smoker"! And Smoked Salmon, "Deer Jerky"..rule for a Snack, with a home brew!;)..(or ANY "FREE BEER!):p
