What fuel line should I use for my Merc 2.5 and this junky fuel?
Does any local auto parts store carry some or do I have to special order it?

Same stuff they are running on cars. They are running the same crappy fuel. ;) Gates is pretty good.
Call Billy aka HOSER (Moreland Hose). He will get you set up with the right stuff.
I need to call him next week to get new high-pressure fuel lines for my Merc.

"Call Billy aka HOSER" Haha. When I read this I thought it was a guy building lines out of his garage not a big business. Thanks again

EPA rated is basically hose that meets the EPA's permeation standards..... anytime you see "EPA", it usually has to do with leakage or emissions and usually means the government is just taking more of your money. All new builds are required to meet EPA standards across the board and pretty much all new equipment has to be manufactured to their standards as well. So whether you like it or not, you will be buying into EPA rated stuff. What ever you use, make sure it's Coast Guard approved to prevent headaches in case of an accident or inspection.
As far as what fuel lines to get, it depends on what you want to spend and what level of quality you want. You can go with any type A1 fuel hose all the way up to the expensive stuff with quality fittings. We use the Sheilds hose we get from the local supplier like Port Supply (West Marine) for most gas stuff and the Parker Blue hose and re-usable fittings for Diesel.....

And just because it says EPA on doesnt mean its ethanol resistant. If it has that clear plastic liner in it it going to come apart.

I just got thru fighting an issue on a customers boat that he had just replaced the fuel line on. He bought some cheap fuel line assembly, I think it might have been Attwood. He thought it was good hose as it said EPA compliant on it. The liner had come loose internally and was wadded up inside the hose, the hose was about a month old

What about the blue stuff from Marpac? I just replaced mine with that because it was all I could find on short notice.

Dang, only 1 month. If its solid all the way through should it should last a season?

Two things happen with the hose with the liner in it: 1) the liner de-laminates inside and collapses blocking the fuel and 2) gets eaten up by the ethanol (even though it says ethanol resistant on the outside). I pretty much stay away from any hose with a liner in it.
