How high can I run my prop shaft in relation to pad with no LW pickup? Have renegade and chopper. So far I am at 3 1/4 inches below with no cooling problem. Much thanks - rb

You don't say which boat or motor you have --- I'm guessing if you have a renegade prop you may be running an OMC motor.
You should be able to go to 21/2 inches below pad. Between 2 and 21/2 inches pressure will start to drop. If you go below 3 inches I would make sure I had a reliable water pressure gage hooked up. You can go higher with a stock gearcase by blocking off some of the upper water pickup holes on the side water intakes. This is a popular Merc trick but I do not know if it is done much with OMC's
