while my STV is in the shop I decided to take my bass rig out to do some fishing and it wouldn't run for nothing. 1997 johnson 200 carbed. pulled apart all carbs, good. pulled the old timing light out, no fire on port cylinder 1 and 2 and intermittent on 3. starboard side 1 had intermittent and 2 and 3 were fine. without further testing I automatically assumed power pack as these are notorious for going out. ordered brand new omc pack. now get this the no fire moved! starboard fire on 1 no fire on 2 and 3. port fire on 1 and 2 and not on 3. I've pulled flywheel to inspect flywheel and stator and nothing jumps out at me. this kind of has me baffled as the no fire condition moved with new power pack. any ideas? I hate to throw parts at it bu only thing I believe left on ignition system is trigger and stator. throw those 2 at it and se what I get or any of you encountered this before?

Check all your grounds, and check the coil grounds.

Low stator output, slow cranking speed

will double check grounds and look closer at stator

On my Eagle 150, that was a power pack going bad. It started fine, run good until it heated up, then dropped the port bank. Let it sit for a while, it would crank up and run fine, until it warmed up again.
