Can reed cages that aren't rubber coated be coated? If so, who can do it?

MAN!! i lost the part number for the 4 petal rubber coated ones, hey T-Rex can ya give it to me again?

i would imagine (just my thoughts) that it would be just as cost effective to buy the new 4 petals than get them coated?

I can do them for $365 per set, that's with Merc Reeds installed.

I was thinking about the cages in my race motors. Actually, I'm not sure what they came out of. Probably a Mark 35A. They are brass.

(Was also wondering about coating the aluminum cages in 3 cylinder OMCs.)

Can you get a price for the rubber coated 5 pettle reeds & cages to replace the old 7 pettles. Thanks TB

It's a heck of a lot easier to find stuff like that if I have something to go on, like maybe a model or serial number, or at least a year and horsepower.

Any other ideas? How about the year and horsepower of the motor that part number came from? Thanks,

...840425T 1, and it shows a reed block, but I have no way to be sure if it's what you want, no pic or description. If it is the one you want, I can do that one for $63 each.

Are all4 pedal reeds the same ? there are about 4 or 5 diffrent applications and part # for instance rickracers # comes back as a S2000 MOTOR and 116452 comes back as a 175hp sport jet 2.5L. The reason i ask is i found some used with the 116452 # they are rubber 4 pedal and will fit the 2.5 promax but is the configuration of the openings on the cages the same.? RANDY

....butI do know that there are 4 petals in 3.0L motors too. I don't know if they are rubber coated, the same cages or not, but according to Boyesen, they take the same reeds. But I can get any that are available, so jes let me know.

they are out of a 2001 merc sport jet. 240 i think? i have been running them for over a year, almost every weekend at 10K+ and they still look new. they sell for around $300 a set (cages and reeds).

When I pull the stock 5-petal reeds/blocks out of my '95 Promax and put in a new set of 4-petals, that they bolt right up! I dont want any messing around with modifications. Who can say for sure the S2000 4-petal reed blocks will be a direct bolt-on replacement for the 225 promax 2.5 liter 5-petals??

TB21

JW
your 2.5 225 ProMax should have 7 pettle reeds (not 5) unless it has the wide 5 pettles like the sport jet has. TB

The '94-'96? all had 5-petal. They went to 7 later.....

JW,
The rubber 4's will bolt in with no modifications then.

I thank tha 200 promax'z had 5peddles and tha 225's had 7....But, Knowing Merkry, if omc had sum that were cheaper, they would change them mid yeer...They were not pozed ta have made a 200fishin motor after 91 wit 7 peddle reedz...I jus seen a 1993 200 wit 7 peddled...You figger????....REX:cool:

I had the dates wrong. Supposed to be 5-petal in the '94 and '95. Show's the 5-petal in my service manual, but doesn't list any part numbers. RickRacer, I need a part number manual!!

Maybe I don't need a parts manual after all! Here's the drawing from the parts site for my serial number range motor:

RSM

Go to the dougrussel parts website and run your serial # and then get the reed cage # then go back and run the 95 150 pro-max & reed cage# if there the same part # they are the smaller 5s. Then bring up the the 97 175hp sport jet and that will have the 4 pedal cages that you need then do a search with that 4 pedal number and all of the motors with that same cage will pop up. Hope that made sense, if not call me and i will explain better. The BOYESEN part number for these will be #26413 not sure on the MERC # maybe Rickracer has it by now ?

I'd sure like to know if all the 4-petal reed blocks for the 2.5 liter motors are the same size/fit!

Might just chicken out and go with the replacement 5-petal reeds and leave it alone....

Don't talke yourself out of it that easy just takes a little investagation. Play around on that web site awhile and things will be alot clearer. I do know the 150 and 200 will work but havn't checked on the 225.
