How would you prop pros compare a Shooter 13.25 X 25p to a Renegade Bass 13.5 X 25p? I found both used in good shape but the Shooter is a lot cheaper-is there a reason for this or are they both good props? I want good hole shot but have been told by someone very reputable that I trust that I may have problems with a 4 blade blowing out easier than a 3 blade. Thanks

what boat? the shooter is a early design and i think the renegade is improved version of the shooter 4 blade design. and what motor. you will get better advice if you explain your setup completely. include pics if posible. maybe a 3 blade would be better. also what are you expecting to gain over what you have now which is...
My stoker the way it is set up runs better with a shooter 27p than a Raker for all around fun with the kids. For top end and lift I found a 27 SRX ran better than a Mazco. Call a prop shop they can be a lot of help or someone on here might have the same set up as you and can help, eBay has some shooters for 100.00. John at DAH was a big help.

The boat is a modified Glastron Carlson CVX 16, '98 Johnson 200 hp, 6" jack plate. No modification to pad as of yet, just hull coring, and 3 knees at transom. Unfortunately not far enough along yet to see what it will do (or not do). Found a Shooter for $50 and a Renegade Bass for $150, both supposedly in good shape. Wasn't sure which one is actually the better deal.

for that kind of money id maybe buy them both and try them head to head and see witch one you like better then sell the one you like least...you cant beat 2 props for $200

Sounds like a good idea Stoker. I think I will do that.

The gade is a much better prop. It has 1/4 in more diameter and better lift. I wouldn't buy a shooter unless it was very cheap, and only use it as a back up.

Depends on the boat...a shooter is one of the best all round props on my boat...

Ageed +1
I would buy the Shooter for $50 bucks for a back up. They have alot of Rake according to the chart i have. In my experience it was a good prop but not enough bow lift for my boat. The Raker is still my favorite prop. The trophy did not run any better than a shooter on my rig. Ive never ran a Gade. I would like to try a worked Bravo and maybe a Yamaha T-1 and a TXP.

Yes from what I have read on here the Raker is a good prop. I am actually buying a 14.5 X 26 Raker in excellent shape for $150 today. Guess that's one of the few good things about living in this area-used props are cheap.

I have ran both the shooters and renegades on my Vegas XT. Everyone ran different....not sure if one was really better than the other. I do know that a stock Trophy Plus ran better than a shoot or renegade.....hands down. More top end, and faster out of the hole, more bow lift, and I could run the Trophy much higher without it sucking air. I never really ran a shooter or renegade that was worn a darn.
And what others are saying about the Rakers is true...they run really good.

If your boat is very light, then that may be the case. On a bassboat a gade is a better prop, and if you run across one that doesn't run right, it probably needs a tune up. I rode in a boat guy had a 23p gade worked over by Croxton, and it was an impressive performer.
Rakers are also good. I have a raker 2 right now and really like it. All rakers on my boat ventilate coming over on plane though.
Just be careful of condition, if the prop is 50.00 and needs work then it might not be worth it.

Ya that's what I'm worried about. Haven't seen it in person yet but in the picture it looks like it has been painted, but its definitely a shooter-I have no idea why someone would paint a SS prop.
Kinda off topic, if you run a 27p shooter and switch to a Renegade do you stick with the same 27p?
There is some differences in the prop and I have read a 25p Gade performs the same as a 27p shooter. Anyone have any input?

Another question to someone who might know-would the Renegade Bass 25p work better for a heavier boat and the Shooter 25p work better for a lighter boat, with the same motor?
Spoke with John at DAH propellers, on my set up the shooter is faster out of the hole, the Gade is faster top end when comparing the two props.

That's good info to know, thanks.

Generally a 27 shooter will rpm like a 25 renegade and have better bottom end, if your boat needs lift the renegade has a bit more

Thanks Racer. I just bought a 14.5 X 26p Raker and a 13.25 X 25p Shooter. I'm hoping I will be lucky enough to be able to use the Raker for cruisin' and top speed and use the Shooter for tubing and skiing, but the Raker might be good enough for that too.
