OMC Eagle series Block corrosion at upper engine mount.

I have a case of severe corrosion on my project V4 Eagle block.
Its located beneath the upper engine mounts. I think this is a common problem so
I thought I should ask you if you have encountered it and what did you do.


I am contemplating cutting out the plate section and welding in a new piece, then having the base of the block decked approx
0.005 to clean it up for the rebuild.

The block I used for my project 91 motor had a little damage to that plate below the mounts, and I filled it in with marine tex. I didn't realize it was damaged until I had the motor built, so.... I had to do what I had to do. I use some black RTV to make sure I get a good seal to to mid, and it seems to work just fine. I used a rolac disc and an air tool to clean it up.
