Went to the boat show today... it was pretty good .. i met Jeff"Yammer" while i was there ... a face to a name ... but i wanted to find a hot foot or trim on wheel and things like that but i never did end up finding them ... got a idea of putting a 90 yammy on my voodoo :D

.......... a wheel button trim for you if you want it . A foot trim too if you want .
The Yammy 90-115 V4 would work real good on that boat ( great power for not that much more weight ) .
Good to meet ya .

How much do you want for each??? At the show today they had the 75 , 90, 115 there ... what i got from the book that i am looking at right now the 90 yamaha 2 stroke 3 cylinder(the 115 is a v4) is about 10 pounds more than the merc 60 4 stroke and about 50 pounds more than the merc 60 2 stroke ... after i told me dad that and explained it so he could understand he thought the 90 yammy would be the best bet...the 90 yammy only weighs 256 pounds (115 is 358) soo the search is on the find a 90 yamaha ...

The guy I purchased my HST of off had a Voo Doo w/ a 90 Yamaha on it and was pulling unreal speeds with it. I think, but don't quote me, he was getting near 85????? He ended up blowing the thing over but he was selling it the same time he was selling his HST. I'm sure you'd have fun in it though.

It was around 70 mph with the 90 and it was a barrell roll not a blow over.

Be careful in a Voodoo with a 90 on it.

Procomp,

He ran a 90 Yamaha and spun a number of props from 17 up tp 28. His favorite prop was a 22 chopper he spun at 7200 for a speed just under 75 mph. I was wrong with the 85 mph. He did in fact barrel roll it as he got caught with waves washing off of the pillars from a bridge in the river. He also rolled as a result of an other boats wake.

...3 Cyl on Voodoo usually end up going for a swim.

Most of these motors weigh more then the hull and that plus the short keel on the boat make it a very hairy ride with an awefull C/G.

Also these motors are all 20" shaft and you will not be able to get the motor high enough to prevent chine walking without the use of a jack. Again another 50 #'s hanging off the transom...so now you up over 300# on a maybe 240# Boat.

You would be better off with somewhat hopped up 50ci OMC or merc on the back.

Some Voodoos with race preped 650XS would top out at close to 80 mph on the voodoo

I have been asking around about motors... these yamahas are fairly expensive ... how much hp did the 650xs put out??? i liked the yamahas because the weight of them ... less than any other stock 90 around ... even the 75 only weighs 230 pounds ... i would probably be looking for one that is used but i ahvent seen many around ... i was thinking about a mod 50 omc 2 cyl ... what numbers could i be looking at with one of those??? I dono what to do ... there are several options i could go wih but what ones the best .. i dont know .... jeff˙ammer" would that foot pedal and trim and wheel work on any make of motor???
Thanks ... if u have any information that could be usefull for what would/ could be the best and not going to break down or anything please say
Thanks Tyler

How fast do you want to go in your Voodoo?

The 650 XS was listed as a 90HP motor at the crank.

In the modern era the 49-52CI motors are the best for these boats.

I remeber 10 yrs ago or so we used a 52 CI Mariner 3 cyl and with a nice SS prop straight and high on the transom...the boat went 50 with the 50...it was impressive and very fun to drive.

Of Course the 3 Cyl OMC 50-75 are good candidates too

well right now with my 40 i can go 47 mph soo im looking for 60 + speeds more around 65-70 is what im looking for ... ive looked for 650 xs but they are down in the states ... well i have yet to find one for sale here in canada ... soo the 90 yamaha seemed light and a nice hp even the 75 hp yamaha

Tyler.... A modified 50 would probably get you at60 and a 45ss would probably put you at a solid 65+.The weight is what the 2cly 50s are known for light and put out more power.A short shaft would be a must, you'd never see those speeds if you didnt have a 15" shaft. And to jack it up with a 20" shaft would only make it worse.A 3 cly OMC is a good choice to.

A jackplate is what you might use for a 15" mid you probably wouldnt need one, setback might be better,And im not to farmiliar with smaller mercs and yammys.
