Caught these back in 1986 when I was 13 years old. The biggest weighed 11lbs 2oz and the total stringer weight was 43lbs 14oz. I was a lucky kid...my dad always knew how to find the big fish and he taught me how to set a hook at age 5.

Just curious... Do y'all keep the bluefish to eat? What we call bluefish or blues down here looks like that but not that big that I have seen. Not many people keep them to eat and I have never eaten one.

They are typically very oily and not that big. A fish thay size was probably not good eating. We kept them for a tournament and that fish won us first place. Wr gabe it away but i did not personally eat it. We hit a school of huge ones while we were striper fishing but dont normally see them that big. The 22.5 pounder is only 2.5 pounds shy of the ny state record, biggest i have ever caught or seen in my life.

would love to come shoot some fish with you kids in that "sauna water" before I croak!!Are north coast in Caly is beautiful but water temps always hover around 52*.gotta breath hold to 20 feet for rewarding Red Abalone (biggest in world).I know 20' is nothing,but when you factor in cold with 7mm suit and 25lbs lead belt and Pacific ocean is no joke with swell and surge..well you know.at 55 years young,i better not wait long Right

I went to Tampa Bay today I got 9 small Snook 2 small trout 1 small flounder 15 Ladyfish and the only thing I got to keep was on the bottom of Tampa Bay it was a battle II series 4000 rod and reel combo I spotted and grabbed while drifting the flats, Matt:D:eek:

Thanks, it's a blast to be able to take kids out and get them on some fish. I'm more nervous than they are when they hook up trying to make sure they get em in the boat! Nothing else in the world like it, an adrenaline high! Just to see their face is priceless. We didn't catch any real big ones but a boat load of solid fish.

Glad to see more and more people "covering up" against the sun. When I started being sensible about it around 10 years ago I got the strangest looks from most on the water. Terrorist oufit came to peoples minds. Its commonplace now.Even fashionable. 40 years in the Florida sun fishing, boating,relaxing and working makes my skin scream when the sun hits it!

Mine from John's Pass area.Lost the grandaddy of all at Potter Pier, Ft. Desoto using a 15 inch shad for bait. Fought and won, had her lying on her side, walking from end of pier to beach( a long damn way!) Shook the hook half way in. All of Tampa Bay probably could hear me screaming obscenities that evening. Two of my good buddies were there. They know its no fish story! Bring bridge gaff if fishing piers or bridges!

You were in the right spot. Grew up fishing the pass.Fishing changed a bunch since the bridge was rebuilt. Other side of pass was good before all the sand moved in. Worked on the docks at boat and waverunner place on mad bch side. Had permission to fish at night after closing.GOOD TIMES!

We build fires, go fishing, catch snakes, ride gokarts, hike, and even stay up late watching Looney toons together. Waiting to take her for her (and my) first ride in the bassboat. Iput it in the allison's livewell with the divider out and it did not fit, tail curvedal the way around the lid, but... I did release this fish after taking pics.:) and it was caught after the spawn
