EZ to add leg straps

Did you have someone local add them? Can you put up a pic? What color is the back of the jacket?

That's Right

You need to know the collar isnt padded as it looks in the pics, other than that they seem nice for the money. Cant tell you much more, our water is frozen. Sizes are correct. Measured my chest, and my wifes chest, and they both fit. I have a XL and I'm 202lbs. Oh ya, one more thing, they are short so when you sit that dont push up (nice).

The Mustang MV4600 is strength-rated to 100mph meaning it has been designed and tested to hold up to the rigors of the most demanding watersports such as jet-skiing, wakeboarding, and water-skiing. With smart styling and cutaway armholes for maximum range of motion, the MV4600 also delivers the superior flotation performance synonymous with Mustang Survival.

ITS A WATER SKI JACKET.......NOT A LIFELINE

what speeds do you run...

njj502
02-06-2013, 01:14 PM
Well into the 90's.... and I realize what you are going to say... I'm exploring options right now as I feel there has to be another vest suitable for our type of boating. What I really need to do is buy four of these Mustangs and two Lifelines but I don't have 1200 to spend on jackets right now. Run the Mustangs when there are four of us in the boat since it'll be a pig anyway.

the mustangs are built for water skiing....not going 90+
Lifelines are built to handle those speeds.

Actually, the mustang style vest are not a ski vest. They are a type of S.A.R vest that are built to be worn daily. That is the reason that they are a little heavier material than most, and the seams are double and triple stitched.Zippers and belts are stronger and better than most recreation vest. The speed of 100mph, I believe is a measure of strength of the structure, witch may or may not work for you. Also there are many different brands of "mustang"vest on the market. Some seem much better than others. There are a couple that i have looked at and been very impressed with the quality of fabric, belting, and stitching. We all must take responsibility for are own safety. There is little doubt that the mustangs are much better than the things most of us have worn at some time, and most likely better than some of the old "certified" Life lines, filled with plastic bags of kapok.Just because it is not certified does not mean it wont work well for you.But the buyer needs to know quality when you see it! You are betting your life, and maybe the life of a loved one on your decision.

it's real simple guys. this jackets rating means when "IT" hits the water at 100 mph it will stay in one piece and float you. What do you wear for a relaxed day of boating ? This is far better than a plain jacket. If your going to push the limits of your boat I suggest a life line. It does allot more than "FLOAT" you.

The mustang jacket that I referred to would be the mv5600 series.Same 100 mph rating but built better, extra stitching.as they are a working vest. Not a sport vest.

I have only looked at the 5600 series. The quality looks to be good, but my choice is the stearns 4185org. Very comfortable.easy on-off.I like the collar.Only comes in orange but my boat is orange so all is good.

when I bought mine I was able to find a statement that said tested to 90mph but I did not buy it because of the speed rating.I bought it because It had three two inch straps,a zipper,a padded collar, pockets, leg straps,It fit me well, and it seems to be made out of good stuff, and well put together.Ya I know it's far from being a life line, but I'm ok with that.BTW the heathen is right about a bucket of spit.A pos made in china could be speed rated to whatever speed they dream up!

This post is not a debate on whether the life line is better than a mustang. Its a member asking if there are options that are better than a "body glove" for high performance boating.I believe there are some good products that can fit that bill and don't cost $400-600 Im not saying there the best, but some of us don't need "the best"

I know Pete but I'm looking for a little less jacket for when there is more than just me and one other hot rod buddy with me. The wife will go 70ish so no need to get her a lifeline.
