Hey guys, just got my 2.4BP back together today. Since I burned #2 on this one, I figured I'd put a fuel pressure gauge in it. It seems to have 38psi at idle, but when I blip the throttle it DROPS about 2psi.

Planning to get it on the water for some break in time tomorrow, but is this normal? I know in the automotive field it's the other way around...as manifold pressure drops (when you hit the throttle), the spring overcomes the vacuum and squeezes off the return line bringing the pressure up.

Any thoughts?

trying to get this back to the top. but i'm pretty sure i wouldn't run it till i got an answer.

What your describing is common, keep the pressure gauge on it when you run it and make sure the pressure comes back up at wot. If it has a fuel filter, it would be a good idea to install a new one if it hasn't been replaced for a while.

Thanks, thought I might be of some assistance to some.

Thanks Earl, and welcome. Out on the water today, it hovers at 38psi. Since the R's won't climb as quickly under load, I didn't see it move any more than about 1-2psi when getting on the throttle. I would have thought the pressure would do something though with throttle applied. Is that regulator just designed to keep that amount of pressure as throttle increases?

It just keeps the pressure at a constant 39 psi +- a couple, it sounds like its ok to me just as long as it keeps pressure at wot and dont drop a bunch under acceleration.

If you have a Weldon fuel pump it should make 90#s dead headed. The pressure is adjustable on the pump.If the setting is low it will cause more than normal fluxuation.I don't think you have a problem but you might want to check it for max pressure just to know it's right. Lonnie
