Ok id first like to say that I am new to the forum and im looking for some good advice, and from what iv seen this is the place to ask. I have a jon boat and sometimes have 3 people in my boat so it needs to be a balance between speed and take off.
here are my specs.
Boat- 1648 aluminum jon boat.
Motor- stock 2004 50hp tiller merc.
Prop-14 pitch 10.5 diameter
current top speed 35mph with 1 or 4 people.
I'm installing a tac tomorrow, id like to have more speed but still plain out quickly with a load.
What Im asking for is suggestions on prop size.
Thank you for responses.

i have a 1448 alumacraft with a 20hp johnson (slightly modified) with a 10.1x15 solas stainless steel prop with the trim pin as high as it will go,,,,,55lb trolling motor, 2 batteries ,6 gallons of gas, 10lb anchor,2 pedestal seats,, with me (185lbs) in it it will run 36mph ,,, with me and the wife (115lbs) i get around 31 upriver and 33 down river ...but that boat you have is welded correct? if so my pop riveted boat is alot lighter than yours but it sounds like you need more pitch

Power Tech makes a prop (not on their list of props) that is KILLER on those little engines.
Ronnie Gilbert designed them!! he's a good dude.

they have a thicker blade with alot of cup in them. very good metal.
