Has anyone had any experience with Land & Sea carbon fiber reeds???

I put a set in my 260 and ran them for less than 6 months and when we recently tore down the motor they were trashed. Just about all of the pedals had pieces broken off. I was very disapointed. I don't run my boat that hard and the RPM's were never above 7500.

Just wanted to get some opinions before I call them and complain.

Thanks,

I have used the Boyesons and the Merc Yellow in the 260. The only difference I found was the price (Merc is Higher). Forget about Land and Sea, it will just make you even more disgusted. Take care.

....and Boyesens, never the L&S carbon fibers though. I have heard of a few folks having a very short lifespan with the carbon fiber L&Ss though. IMHO, the Boyesens are the best for the money .

I have the single stage reeds in mine. For about 3 years now. No problems.

And EVERYTHING I have heard about Land and Sea is NOT bad!

I have a nose cone, blow out ring, torque tab, upper and lower motor mounts (some really nice high quality pieces), velocity stacks, and reeds.

I also have not had any problems with Land and Sea as far as help and personel.

Will I buy more Land and Sea parts? Yes.

Land and Sea reeds? junk junk junk junk! I have used them several times (the "dual hinge" models) and they ALWAYS had the tips missing after 20hrs.
I've used some of their other stuff and it was okay- nose cone, solid mounts, torque tab.
I used their V stacks, found the finish very rough and no difference in performance on a '85 ModVP.

Individual results may vary.

All L&S is not junk but you will hear that a lot.

My torqueshift worked great if I did not surface it. I did that once and broke the hub.

The L&S nosecone worked OK, if not quite as fast as my replacement Bob's. (replaced because I blew up the lower unit)

The dual action throttle is great.
The step'n'jack was fine (since sold)
I like the floor mounted trim buttons
The jackplate lasted 9 years.

happy new year
