They have been around for a while, cool stuff.

Evinrude makes them also calls them MFE multi fuel engines and they are available to the public.

It was my understanding that the Opti was originally engineered and designed with DoD specs and requirements from day one. That Merc knew if it would pass for them, they could sell that same basic structural design to the public with great reliability. Anyone on here know more info about it?

The multi fuel thing has been around a long time,I have a 1968 kaiser m35A1 that runs on 100 octane avfuel or vegetable oil and anything in between.

The multi fuel outboard oil developed for these engines is what merc racing is recomending for the new race model powerhead 200xs.
