That's pretty awesome. I've always wanted one of those Aristocraft Torpedo boats but they would look like crap running a modern motor.

I think that's really cool - I've never seen that kind of thing before. Would be a bit cooler if they used an OMC engine though.

Ill ask the guy to join in over here with some info. It was just too cool IMO not to post.
My guess is the engine choice had a lot to do with how he wanted to the final product to look. I wold think a smaller 2 stroke like an Opti or Etec would have been easier to adapt...but I dont know.

Ever try to pull start one of those ??!!! Man and they will use some gas !!Grew up with those on LI in the 70's . Cool project . I'd like one of those cowls on a 260 for a real head scratcher .

Got a soft spot for the Aristocrafts. My grandfather had one (fiberglass) in the early '60's, with a Great Big Johnson 75hp v4. Was the fastest thing on Lake Allatoona, outside Atlanta,at the time. Ran 48 mph! The 'Rude/Aristocraft is awesome, and brings back great memories.

I've seen a handful of these. Two that come to mind readily were both on Glaspars. some of you may remember one...it was the same Evinrude cowl as the one in this thread, grafted on to the lower pan of a later V4 (I think a 135) on a G-3, which was featured several times in Trailer Boats back in the mid 1990s. The owner eventually installed an early '80s Merc V6 which was another feature story in a later issue of the same mag. The guy who did all this (I think his name is Karl Beisel) ended up being the original starter of Alterscale (the little company that made the V8, Pro Max, 260 and assorted smaller older Merc Mark outboard scale electric models, now owned by Terry Topjun.
Another one I saw last March at the Sunnyland ACBS meet at Tavares was a Glaspar Seafair Sedan, perfectly restored, with a late '50s Johnson fat fifty cowl grafted to a Suzuki V6 lower pan, with Suzuki V6 powerhead & centersection/gearcase. I did a double take for sure, as it took me a few seconds to realize what the heck I was looking at!

Have had one of these motors sitting in the barn (fat 50)next to a few Eagle 60 deg motors
but been holding out for a 90 deg 130/140 for a stealth sleeper.Nice job on the Yammy-OMC.
