Hi. My name is Adam. I am from Merrick NY. I signed up on this website because I just brought a Mini Hawk a few weeks ago. My friend, Sam is also on this website registered as "Dry Martini", and he will be doing most of the work for me, as this is my first boat.

Today, Sam started up the engine on the hose and it sounded pretty good, but there are a few things that I have NO clue about. The parts on the side that make the boat go forward/reverse seem loose? And also, the pieces where you connect the thottle cables into, seem loose also, but the cables I was given dont seem to be the correct ones? Finally, there is no water coming out of the opening in the back where the water is supposed to come out. The original owner told me that it may need a new water-pump? I will post a video.. I'd like to get the boat in the water soon and get a few rides out of it before the season ends. I beleive the engine is a 1985, if thats any help?
Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it.
Adam

Also looking to find the correct fuel connector/fuel line to use. What about the throttle box? Also, the latch thing on the back seems to be missing a peice? I am new to this, so I have no idea...

Thanks

Thanks Marco!
also, we will be reinforcing the inside of the mini hawk and removing deck. what is the best way to remove the deck? there are rivets we are taking out, but when we pull the deck off towards the middle, it wont budge....there is fiberglass underneath in the area. should we use a saw or just use a crowbar type tool?

Like SG said,i inspected the boat, and the transom was rotted (the wood peice). Also, the floor where the gas tank goes is missing. Tried to pull a few rivets........they came out and the deck was only able to separate in those areas. Anyone know how to remove deck with the least damage possible?

It's hard to say without seeing the boat, but i would use a grinderand cut it carefully from the inside. NOT all the way thrue just the lay of fiberglass what keeps the top deck and the hull together. If you do it this way you wont distroy the angle of the top deck wich goes over the hull and makes it easyer to get it back together without makin you more work than nasasery.

We used a sawzall and carfully cut it off. When its time to go back on, we are glassing it on and no rub-rail to make it look like a mini Cigarette Gladiator....transom is rotted and stringers need re-glassing.....that will be a project for us this September....

That's a cool boat. You are only going to get bigger and faster boats now. Enjoy rebuilding it. I have done 3 myself. Looks like the bug has bitten you.

Thanks mike, i think the bug has bitten me, i am young and i want to own many powerboats in the future, i thought that the mini hawk would be a good start and i can slowly learn how to drive it then work my way to bigger boats.
