I have a real low hour 2.0 135 Merc V-6 carb motor. What can I do to pump it up? Is it worth the effort? It will be used mostly for sking and tubing.

I have a 1993 150 HP 2.0 Mercury with the stock heads cut to 32cc by G Force, G Force tuner & L&S reeds. My guess is around 170 HP with the mods. In short for about $500 I got 3 MPH and a safety factor (with the reeds) to run 6300 - 6500 RPM. In order to take advantage of the expanded RPM range the prop was sent out to Rich Booger for a rework... another $200 + S/H. This got me another MPH or 2 with a slight drop in RPM. As they say their is no substitute for displacement thus had Al Gore invented the internet a few years earlier I would have gone with a 2.4 or 2.5.

when I was looking to get more power out of my uncle's 2.0 150 I was told to install horizontal front, wh22 carbs, 2 stage reeds, cc'd heads, 200 tuner. Before those mods we removed airbox (installing bobs velocity stacks), relieved exaust, and nose cone. one thing ive noticed (as many people told me long before I would ever admit to it) is that setup is just as important as making more hp. what type of rig are you running? Try to talk to other people with similar rigs and see what worked for them. Let them take the guess work out of it for you.
